Gallicantu Stazzo Retreat

Beautiful place, good food and wine. Helpful staff. Stayed over a weekend for a friend’s birthday celebration. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Lovely pool area with sensitive landscaping of entire property. Strongly recommended.

The Gallicantu Stazzo retreat is truly majestic. From the day we arrived my wife and I felt relaxed, at peace and totally in sync with the chilled Sardinian countryside living. The beauty of the hotel speaks for itself. The grounds are expansive and there are dozens of quiet spots to take a pause and fully immerse yourself in nature. The pool area is very quiet with the gentle sound of running water. Our favourite spot, under a huge olive tree where they serve aperitivo, was beautiful and the treasure hunt we were presented with at the start of the holiday ensured we explored every inch of the stunning property. The food was fresh, local and varied every day which we really enjoyed. The highlight was pizza night where a specialist chef fired up an old stone pizza oven. Breakfast was in a different league. Veronica presented freshly baked biscuits, breads and cakes, along with cheese, prosciutto and yoghurt, and we fully indulged every morning. Our room felt spacious and extremely relaxing. Despite being underneath another room we felt it was very quiet and peaceful all the same. Not much happens here after dinner but that suited us perfectly and is in keeping with the style of the retreat. It is quite a remote location so I would ensure you have access to a car, but it’s relatively close to beaches on either side of the island and there are some nice hikes nearby. The staff were all extremely friendly and looked after all our needs. Matteo and Laura were exquisite hosts during every meal and Rosella was extremely welcoming, always on hand to help us out and showed us around. My (very few and minor!) suggestions for improvement would be nicer tea bags available for use and perhaps a kettle in our room so we could help ourselves to hot drinks. Also, considering the dinner is a set price, it might be nice to include water for free as well in that. Overall, we are in awe at what Marco and his team have created here. The attention to detail is just stunning. Everywhere you look it feels like you’re discovering more about this wonderful property. We came with the ambition to explore Sardinia but we felt that we found our own piece of paradise and we were very sad to leave. What a fantastic experience. Thank you! We’ll see you again soon.

Fantastic location what a shame for the expensive poor meal ….. after spending 95€ per person we went for a pizza…. We asked for extra food also paying extra but the waiters never gave us an answer…….

My partner and I just finished our stay with Gallicantu and we have been left extremely disappointed. The service provided or lack there of was disgusting, there was no one there to assist us with our bags upon arrival and departure and we were thus made to carry our luggage through gravel paths and up flights of stairs. There are a number of issues with this stay and I will now start to highlight them. As we are paying around $500 per night for this stay a certain level of service is expected. Marco the host was extremely rude and unhelpful, every interaction with him seemed as if we were being a hassle and putting him out with simple questions. Our rooms were "cleaned" daily however not once during our stay were we provided with clean towels or a change of linen for the bedding. At our all inclusive dinner for $50pp we were charged for water at an added cost. Our first breakfast meal my partner had the cats jump on her and the table/food numerous times, as she is allergic this is not acceptable at all not to mention highly unhygienic. As advertised on website there is a sauna, there is no cost shown or mentioned yet we were charged upon check out for using this included service. Also upon check out we were hit with numerous add ons that were explained in Marcos words as "little bits and pieces" yet upon further examination from my partner we discovered we were being charged for other guests meals and drinks that we had not consumed or purchased at all. Had we not picked up on these "little bits and pieces" we would've incurred a full charge of around $200 euro for other guests purchases. Also we had asked whether there was a washing machine just for a simple load of washing, Marco said he would arrange this for us with no mention of cost or additional fee, then as we checked out we were informed that the washing now costed us $99 Euro this is completely unprofessional and unacceptable as no fee was discussed prior and there was no breakdown of costing for the washing, we were just expected to pay for this service that has randomly been costed. Had Marco simply explained prior when we had asked we would have not gone through with the washing. Nothing was dry cleaned it was just a simple wash and dry and the cost of this is simply disgusting especially just being blindsided with it at checkout. The fact Marco also tried to slip the "little bits and pieces"past us as well has left a very sour taste in our mouthes. All in all our stay at Marcos "retreat" couldn't have been further from what was advertised. All in all I would recommend NOT staying here.

From the moment we arrived at the Gallicantu Stazzo Retreat we were blown away with the beauty of the grounds. The location of the retreat is simply stunning with the most beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. We had the pleasure of meeting Marco and Raphaela along with their two adorable little kittens who stole our heart instantly. Our room was spacious with so much natural light and incredibly thought out architecture. The four course tasting menu was simply delicious, and breakfast was divine using such fresh ingredients thank you Veronica! Everything about the retreat was luxurious, from the pool towels to the ice creams and coffee machine by the pool. It’s safe to say if we ever return to Sardinia we will absolutley be returning to the Gallicantu Stazzo Retreat and will hasten to reccomend to all our friends and family! Very difficult to describe with simple words. There are places around the world where you feel like an actor entering in a perfect set and Gallicantu is perfectly organized to give this feeling. We stayed at Gallicantu only one night and a full day during a week long holiday in Sardegna and it was tough to leave. Nice staff, shoutout to Laura and Veronica fpr the professionality and kindness, great accommodations with unique style and strong territorial character, only local food and ingredients. A fairytales location We will go back as soon as possible.
