The Cliffe at Dinham

We stayed here for two nights and had a meal on the first night. The food was fantastic. The breakfast each day was very good too. The room was a letdown. We assumed that we had the worst room as we had our dogs with us and are used to having a lesser plush room because of that, but after reading other reviews it seems like all the rooms are needing a bit of TLC. The walls and woodwork need a lick of paint as does the rusty towel rail. We were surprised as the pictures on the website have made the rooms look amazing. The fact you can hear everything the guests in the next room are doing/saying is not great. Shame the rooms let the Cliffe down, and it's not the cheapest hotel we've stayed in. The close proximity to Ludlow centre and the fact there is a large carpark is a definite plus.

Visit back home to ludlow thought we would have a treat. Room wasn't what we would of expected from the pictures,the bathroom was so small and needed TLC a bit.The pillows were so uncomfortable and the room was so hot. The breakfast was nice and had a good selection. The setting is lovely, and location is good just a shame about the above.

mediocre room, tiny bathroom. Mean breakfast one tiny sausage with the full english, and had o share one small bottle orange between two. Staff acted as if you wasn't there, also was told there was no space left in restaurant, after going elsewhere in torrential rain with two dogs in tow, found out later that they were quite happy to accomodate the regulars!! but not if you were a resident, absolutely disgusting. Dust in room, kettle covered in dust, tea tray covered in dust too. Uncomfortable bed, very bog standard, overpriced for sure.

We stayed for a couple of nights last week. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and the food is gorgeous. Very good for anyone with food allergies or intolerance. This hotel is ideally situated for anyone exploring Ludlow, as it is just a short walk from the town. Highly recommended.

Beautiful food. Very high quality. Caters for gluten and lactose free. Location of hotel good. Room quite small, so had to put chair outside. but otherwise perfect. Only downer is that bar cannot give change when paying cash for drinks, which is quite strange. (We never have a drink at any bar that won't take cash.)

I cannot believe this place has a four star rating! Very basic unwelcoming rooms which are dreadfully dull with paper thin walls, you can hear every conversation, snoring and going to the toilet, very disconcerting and unpleasant, our sink bubbled when they flushed! No sleep at all! Very basic dark furniture that is chipped along with paint on doors etc. Very unhelpful unwelcoming staff, that’s if you see them at all! Breakfast pretty mean, no helping yourself to anything and not offered any top ups. Windows filthy too. Very sad disappointing one night stay, do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

Based on our experience avoid rooms 10 & 11. You’ll thank me later. The adjoining wall is so thin you can literally hear everything, doesn’t help that the headboards are against that wall. It’s like they’re in the same room with you. Couldn’t and didn’t get much sleep. We mentioned our concerns the next morning. Hotel suggested the walls are triple studded and fairly dismissive of the awful night sleep we had. Left disappointed. Shame.

Have stayed here a few times but now it has been all refurbished and looks better than ever. There were a few of us we had three rooms and all had been redone since I was last here 18 months or so ago. Rooms are now much more modern with very comfortable beds and nice furniture. I might call it a restaurant with rooms as the food is excellent, both the evening meal and breakfast. We all had a variety of choices at dinner and all was very good. Good wine list and range of other drinks. Dogs seem to be allowed in the bar which is positive. Parking all very easy (compared with many places to stay in the centre of town especially). The stroll into Ludlow is only 10 mins but is itself very nice, over the river with views of the castle. Ludlow itself is of course as beautiful as ever. As one or two of the other reviews have mentioned some rooms have much better views than others, but it seems unfair on the hotel to dock points for this!

Twenty three of the High School Class of 1958 met for lunch at the Cliffe Hotel Restuarant.I was so pleased with the efficient service and the cuisine deserves a special mention. Both my smoked citrus salmon and Cod dishes were very special as they had an unusual dressing on the salmon and a very delious sauce with the cod .The flavours were good.So cheers to the chef and thanks to all the staff.
