Jinshan Wanping Farmhouse

Det mest fantastiske sted. Højdepunktet på vores 4 ugers ophold i Kina - der findes ikke mange steder til denne pris, der har udsigt til Den Kinesiske Mur fra sengen! Vi tog toget til Gubeikou banegård, og værten hentede os venligt til en rimelig pris, og vi var blæst bagover af ejendommen. Fantastisk udsigt og et meget moderne og rent hotelværelse, beliggende mindre end 5 minutters gang fra Jinshanling-indgangen til Den Kinesiske Mur. Værten lod os låne deres pandelampe, så vi kunne klatre op på muren for at se solopgangen, og han var generelt meget hjælpsom. Kan ikke anbefale dette sted nok 😍😍

We had an excellent stay here! Having one night did not feel like enough, the staff were so welcoming and lao bans cooking was AMAZING!! The room was spotless and the views were spectacular ! Also the staff helped us with the tickets for the wall and we got to go up twice !! We look forward to coming back in 10 years and experiencing the wonders of this place all over again, thanks so much again for a short but very sweet stay ! l

We had an amazing stay! The owner of the farmhouse is a renowned photographer of the Great Wall, and the beautiful photo albums at the reception are his own work. He is an incredibly kind and humble man, and his life story is definitely worth reading about. The hosts were wonderful, welcoming, attentive, and always happy to help. The food was absolutely delicious as well. We celebrated my husband’s birthday during our stay, and they even helped us order a birthday cake, which made the occasion extra special. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Overall, it was a memorable experience, and we would highly recommend staying here!

This was such an amazing stay. Not only are you right next to the great wall so you can quickly head up there to catch the sunrise, the hotel itself is so spacious, modern and the family who host it are so lovely and welcoming. The food is fantastic, I especially loved the breakfast! The ticket gate for the great wall is practically right next to the hotel. You can see the cable cars from the hotel. But you can also walk or take a shuttle car to the wall.

Everything about our stay was perfect! From the point of booking until we waved goodbye, we were looked after. The staff were extremely welcoming and collected us from the Scenic Area entrance gate on arrival, taking all of our stress away. We had wonderful food throughout our stay. Lunch (noodles and dumplings) before heading up onto the wall and dinner (Kung Pao chicken) after sunset were very fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. Once we had come down from sunrise on the wall, the hosts provided a lovely breakfast which was included in our stay. A wonderful place to stay! We came only for one night to visit the Great Wall at Jingshanling and had a nice, spacious room with the view of the Wall. Everything was very clean, the rooms are fairly new or freshly renovated. The staff is super nice and helpful. They picked us up from the station and shared some tips regarding the Wall entry. There is a small restaurant downstairs, right at the entry. My only recommendation would be to translate the menu to English as it was quite challenging to pick some using funky translation. Or to add pictures of the dishes! Would be super helpful consideringinternational guests 🙂 We had some free time before getting back to the train station so they allowed us to sit and relax in one of the rooms downstairs after we checked out, which we greatly appreciated. I will keep recommending this quest house to all interested in coming to Jingshanling! 10/10

Location: this is a one-minute walk from the Middle Gate / entrance to the Jinshanling Great Wall (the best location for an early start as the gate opens as early as 4-5am) and has great value for money compared to other farmstays or hotels with this proximity to the entrance. Cleaniness: spacious and clean room with all the necessary amenities, though most are single-use so bring your own if you would like to be environmentally-conscious. The bathroom also had only a half-door so there was a chance that water from the showerhead may spill out a bit. Service: the host was super friendly and knowledgeable. Ms. Li is able to tell you about the best hiking paths, hiking time, and ways to get around / get back. She can also help you arrnage transport to nearby Gubei Watertown or tell you how to get back to city centre Beijing if you ask. As all farmstays do they have their own restaurant that can cook just about any typical home-cooked meals (and they are flexible with portions and pricing, depending on the size of your group). There is a small shop area at reception if you need some last-minute supplies for the Great Wall (food and drinks mostly). 100% recommended for those who wish to get an early start to the Great Wall with a decent night's sleep and some comfort meals.

The host is super kind and available. The place is beautiful: you can see the wall from the room window. At last, incredibile location, just 2 minutes walking from the great wall ticket gate. Ideal of you want to catch the sunrise. I could not recommend this hotel more!

The hotel room was brand new and very clean. The owners were incredibly helpful and were able to get us tickets to get into the Great Wall after it had closed for public entrance. They even walked us down to the gate which is a 1 minute walk from the property. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both meals were delicious. They organized our transport back to the train station at a reasonable price. All around we had a great experience and would love to go back!
