Our stay at Penrose Bed and Breakfast was just divine. It's wonderfully run, tastefully decorated and kept spotless. Chris and Heidi couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive hosts. We stayed in Room 3 and the decor was absolutely beautiful, from the wallpaper, curtains and bedding to the tiling in the enormous bathroom. Each area had different ceiling roses and chandeliers and there were lovely little touches throughout, including a sewing kit, cotton wool balls/ear buds, boxes of tissues and a bowl of boiled sweets. They had the most varied and well stocked tea tray I've ever seen (including delicious biscuits), along with a corkscrew for life's essentials! Breakfast was superb. The menu provided had a lot of choice, especially for vegetarians and you could help yourself to different cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc before being served a hot fresh cooked option. Heidi makes her own jams and marmalades which were on each table and we also had the opportunity to buy these before we left. Takeaways were allowed, either in your room or the little "snug" which also displayed Heidi's talented photography and artwork. They also promote recycling and local produce. The B&B's location was perfect for us, just on the way out of the village and away from traffic noise. We were able to sit in the stunning gardens (although the weather yesterday put pay to that!). Lostwithiel itself was an absolute delight. Every person we met was so friendly, the shops were eclectic and the streets were clean without an ounce of dog 💩 to be seen anywhere. The pubs were welcoming, decent priced and quirky. We will definitely be making this a regular occurrence. I'm already looking forward to returning. Many thanks for your hospitality.
