The hostel is centrally located in Los Angeles, making it convenient for accessing all the city’s tourist attractions via the subway system. The room was clean so no complains.

Our experience at the Freehand Hotel was extremely disappointing, particularly for a family stay. Despite the cheerful photos of families with children featured on the website, this hotel is far from suitable for families. The most frustrating issue was the lack of access to the advertised amenities. We decided to visit the rooftop pool, which is prominently highlighted as one of the hotel’s main attractions. However, we were told to leave because, after 7 PM, the area turns into an adults-only bar. Nowhere on the hotel’s website or the booking platform was this restriction mentioned. When I approached the front desk to clarify the situation, I was told that we had been warned about this rule. However, I have no recollection of being informed during check-in. The staff pointed to informational signs in the elevator, but this is far too late for such critical information—after the booking decision has already been made. The lack of transparency is a major concern. Additionally, the reception staff were unhelpful and dismissive, consistently shifting the blame onto us, implying that we “should have known.” This is unacceptable and demonstrates poor customer service.

The staff were excellent, but the added fees were ridiculous. $33 a day for resort fee PLUS $59 a day for parking your car, which adds up to a very expensive room. Nothing bad about the actual hotel or staff, just watch the added fees
