We booked a room in Elk Grove, CA four days prior to our arrival. We arrived very late at night, exhausted, and were told they didn't have a room for us. They did have our reservation, but they had overbooked and didn't bother to contact us before we drove there. In addition, even though they overbooked, they were still taking reservations as late as the night before, as evidenced by another couple who stated they had reserved then and also had no room. The employees were very casual about the fact they had no room for us, as if this happens all the time and it's no big deal. They said they were sending us to another of their locations, which would have been acceptable if it was anywhere nearby, but it was over 16 miles away! We specifically needed to be in Elk Grove. They did say they would comp our room, which was the least they could do. The room was not at all as advertised, they advertise FULLY stocked kitchens, and this kitchen was completely empty. Not a plate, pot, pan or even a coffee pot! When I complained to the BBB, the response from Extended Stay was essentially, "Sorry, overbooking happens to all hotels." They did not even address the fact the kitchen was completely bare. They sent us somewhere we did not want to be, we had not booked a room in Sacramento for a REASON, but they sent us there anyway, just to give us a crummy room. And they think not charging us for the privilege was enough compensation for this horrible experience. NEVER AGAIN! Don't bother booking a room with them, they don't care if they overbook and you are left out in the cold. And their rooms are NOT as advertised!
