Haugen Pensjonat Svalbard

I stayed here for 2 nights Feb 2024 and I wish I had stayed for the full 4 nights I was there. Elena was there waiting for us at 1 with a sign saying welcome. We were lucky as we were on the middle floor and not many guests were there, we actually didn’t see or hear anyone, and the kitchen was right next to us so we could just go down and eat or drink anytime. It was one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. The room was so cozy, the bathroom and shower were perfect and again as no one was staying in room 9 we didn’t share. I actually cannot fault anything about our stay. It was about a 10 min walk from town, which is uphill but I enjoyed seeing the views etc and it was a good calorie burner. Would go back again without hesitation. Also people leave behind lots of food so great to cook there as well to save money.

A cozy place 10 min walk from centre. There is also a large shared kitchen with individual cupboards and refrigerators where you can meet new people. Overall the place was clean, well maintained and our host was very kind. I can recommend it for a nice stay at Longyearbyen.

I really liked this place because the owner had provided a number of nice touches that made us feel welcome. Examples included complementary filter coffee and biscuits, numbered cupboards in the kitchen and numbered individual fridges in the kitchen too. I have never seen that before. The kitchen and communal dining area were well appointed and everything was spotlessly clean. The bedroom was comfortable and had a small couch, coffee table and large easy chair. Highly recommended. Haugen is an easy 10 minute walk from the center of Longyearbyen. The bus dropped us at Funken Lodge and we had a little trouble figuring which place was Haugen. It's directly downhill from the Lodge. Look for the red building with the reindeer antler collection on the lefthand wall.

Everything you need and nothing you dont. This is probably the best run, cleanest, well-looked-after place I've ever stayed. Immaculate. The showers are incredible, best shower I ever had without a doubt. . The kitchen is well stocked and everything you could need, and the hosts are super friendly and helpful. Thank you

Good place closed to the center. Our appartment was well equipped with all we nedded, very confortable and warm. We enjoyed our hollydays. It is a good address if you prefer to be in a flat instead of an hotel. If we come back to Svalvard that' s the place we will go

I stayed for a week at Haugen Pensjonat during Aug - Sep'22 and the stay surpassed all my expectations. It was my home away from home in far off Svalbard and I can't even imagine of having a better experience anywhere else. Elena was extremely kind and helpful from our first communication to the final goodbye. My room was very comfortable and had beautiful views of the mountain ranges near Svalabard. The breakfast area was a nice meeting place with other guests during morning/evening hours. On one of the days, I had some injury in my knee and Elena went out of her way to help me getting first-aid, etc. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to other travelers visiting Svalbard and I surely hope to stay again here in the coming years. Thank you Elena for making my week-long stay at Svalbard, an experience to treasure.
