It's not The Ritz, but it's by no means a dive. What Bartlett's Motel on Pacific Coast Highway in Lomita offers is a clean, safe, peaceful place to spend an inexpensive night or two. It's well situated, within easy walking distance of a couple of convenience and liquor stores, and several good mid-range restaurants. There are Chinese (Tasty Noodle House), Mexican (Alfredo's), Hawaiian (King Poke), Brazilian pizza (Sampa's Gourmet), Vietnamese (Nouilles of 3rds) and a classic '40s diner (Hot 'n' Tot), all within a block. There is a Trader Joe's about a quarter mile away in a sprawling shopping center and the rooms have small refrigerators and microwaves. The newly renovated units are not fancy but are pleasant and range from your standard motel cozy to two-room suites. It's a popular spot and can get a little loud on a weekend nights. There is a brewery with live music on the weekends just down the block . But it is run by a family that keeps a lid on things and pleasantly and efficiently checks guests in and out. The on-site parking allows you to keep your vehicle within feet of your unit. There's a laundromat a couple doors down. too.
