Wow!! What an amazing hotel. We arrived in the middle of a power outage, to be met by polite friendly and professional staff, we were made aware of the situation and offered a seat by the fire with complimentary nibbles, we were kept up to date with the situation throughout until power was restored. Considering the disruption, the staff remained calm and all food was delivered promptly and was delicious. The rooms were very tastefully done, well equipped and spotless, beds were extremely comfy and the rooms were toasty warm on a night that got below freezing. Breakfast was really good and we were well looked after by all of the staff. We have to say it is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in and would 100% recommend The Melbreak to anyone. Well done everyone concerned

Lovely hotel, very clean, staff very friendly & the restaurant is very stylish & serves a delicious breakfast. The hotel is an old farmstead & the rooms are out the back in what was the old barn, which is nice as you don’t hear the traffic from the fairly busy road. Ideal place to stay to visit the western lakes.

First time staying In the suite and it was absolutely beautiful can’t fault it. Always a pleasant stay.staff are more than welcoming and the rooms are always clean and very well presented

We stayed for the first time a few weeks ago and had to come back again this weekend as it was so lovely! Rooms and bathrooms are spotless and modern, and the cooked breakfast set us up for a day of walking. We ended the day with a steak in the Conservatory restaurant, which was cooked to perfection. The staff are very friendly and approachable, and work very hard to give their guests a good stay. We're already looking forward to the next time we visit.

A 5 day break, back in the County we've visited for many years. The Melbreak is a beautiful hotel in a lovely setting, overlooking the Cumbria fells. We had one of the newly re-furbished ground floor rooms, which was really comfortable. Not a large room but it had all the facilities. We were there to visit family in Cockermouth and also to celebrate our 58th wedding anniversary. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the meals were very good. Will certainly be back.

Always stay here when in Workington. It’s a family run hotel and restaurant and is such a great place to stay. The rooms are apart from the hotel and bar which makes it very quiet. The bar and conservatory serve excellent beer and foo. Tapas night was worth going to. All freshly made and cooked. Delicious. Nice to support a local family business.

Booked this hotel as a last minute trip to the lakes for the night. Rooms adequate for what we needed. A little small but very modern. Bed was massive and comfy. We ate at the restaurant for tapas night and the food and drink was brilliant. Hotel staff really friendly and helpful. Very good base if you want to explore the lakes. Would definitely come back!

Visited for a family birthday 🎂 and as previous visits we where not disappointed Great friendly service and really good food We love that you can arrive and have pre dinner drinks in the lounge,brought to you by attentive staff Our meal,a party of 10 with various starters/mains where all excellent as where the sweets Afterwards, we had after dinner drinks in the lounge, the perfect end to a delightful evening Thank you to all the staff at the Melbreak for looking after us as always We will undoubtedly return soon

Another excellent stay, staff were all attentive and friendly, room was spotless and quiet with a nice view, food was well cooked fresh and warm, the hotel is well positioned for touring the Lake District and the staff are always eager to point you in the right direction, We will be back.
