this hotel is disgusting and would be a 2 star hotel in the USA if they are lucky. The location is terrible, you cant park anywhere, its disgusting on the inside of the building and the outside, the room didnt even have a table next to the bed and you can barely walk in there, plus it smelled like sweat and the WiFi didnt work at all except in the lobby. I decided to cancel my stay and the front desk person said they would agree to refund my money so I left and when I went on Priceline to request the refund , they said the merchant declined it. Stay as far away from this dirty disgusting hotel as you can, I have no idea why it has good reviews. I work for a travel agency and stay in hotels MOST of the year so I know what's good and what isn't and this place is at the bottom of the food chain.

I would describe the Palacio Ramelhete as quiet understated luxury with an old-world feel. The historic hotel is located in an ideal location between Belem and the Lisbon waterfront with easy access to both by bus, tram or Uber. We walked around the local neighborhood near the museum and found several good restaurants. Our room was the Grand Ramelhete Suite which was large and luxurious. One of the best things about the hotel is the included full breakfast with several treats on the menu. We were met by the friendly professional staff at the door who took our bags and the hotel manager provided us with some refreshments and introduced us to the hotel, amenities, etc. We knew from that moment that we were in good hands from attentive staff committed to our comfort. Note: Other reviews mentioned the need to carry luggage up and down stairs. We did carry our bags down some stairs to the reception area for checkout and a staff member helped us carry them to the street. Given it’s a luxury hotel, they would have taken it from the room if asked.

Location is perfect, mixture of services and local life close by the center. Hotel is in historical building and decorated with antique and modern style, it is truly beautiful. Even though you are in the city, you don't hear much noise and inside the sound proof is good. Also, the hotel is small so there is feeling of privacy. We had a bath tub, it was really nice room with a small view to the sea. Breakfast is high quality, the guest can choose from a rather large menu. And let's not forget the good customer service, the staff is available.

I researched many Lisbon hotels and am very glad we chose the Palacio Ramalhete. The hotel is a bit out of center in the Lapa neighborhood, away from the noise and traffic of the main tourist areas. Yet, as it is close to the river, it was always very easy to get around. The decor throughout is absolutely charming, retaining the feel of a private palace. Our room was huge and gorgeous but the rooms vary considerably, so it is best to book directly where you can see all the options. There are many attractive public places as well, including a terrace and rooftop pool, where one can relax. Breakfast and staff were excellent too. I would classify this place as a hidden gem.

We were recommended this wonderful hotels a year or so ago, and we had been trying to stay since then .. Finally we managed to book there last room for three nights in early September.. From the outside it could be a normal door into a typical Lisbon home..but once inside you are transported in a world of splendour and calm ( pre warning …there is no lift and plenty os stairs ) check-in was very relaxed and biscuits and drinks were plentiful. Our room was right at the top of the palace, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We usually stay in central Lisbon, so this district was new to us and very fun.. lots of cool cocktail bars and numerous restaurants within walking distance.. the outside terrace of the palace was wonderful to sit in early evening, whilst enjoying a local wine. Breakfast was very well presented and service was just right. Fresh coffee and freshly squeezed OJ was always topped up.. Overall.. if you’re visiting Lisbon and they have availability “stay” you will not be disappointed.. we will be back

Fabulous opulent boutique hotel in Lisbon. We had a pool suite and were not disappointed….great space with lovely pool views. The breakfast was exceptional, fabulous choice and to a very high standard. Staff were attentive and happy to help with any requests. Would highly recommend.

The stay was fantastic, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is gorgeous and tastefully decorated. There is a pool with comfortable sun loungers, there is a large selection of cooked food for breakfast. I’ll be returning to stay in future.

Stayed at the Palacio Ramalhete for three days. The hotel doesn’t have parking but there is a nearby (pricey and does not accept international bank cards, even Mastercard and Visa!) safe underground parking garage if needed. The hotel itself is very beautiful and somewhat deceiving from the outside - in the sense that it looks plain-ish until you enter and it really is a beauty. The setup, decor and detail throughout is lovely and location is reasonably convenient if you want to head into the centre. There are flights of stairs to navigate with luggage so be prepared to lift and shift. A few bits that let the experience down included very thin walls, lack of staff (prepare to wait a very long time to have breakfast for example) and hotel missing an overall ambience.

This luxurious home-away-from-home will not disappoint. While the exterior looks like nothing, the interiors are lovely. The location is quiet, clean and safe and the rooms are well-appointed. The best part of this hotel is the service. The staff, everyone that works here, aims to make sure your Lisbon visit is perfect. Stay here if you have the chance.
