Ulisa Bay Lodge

We loved our stay, it was peaceful, beautiful beach. Area to snorkel, rooms were nice and spacious. The food was excellent. Chris arranged our transportation to and from the Island. He also went up and beyond helping us get our visas. There is a village next door so you can watch them go out fishing for the night and return in the morning. The sunsets are amazing. All the staff were kind and helpful. The best stay in Malawi.

I absolutely loved my stay at Ulisa. Chris and Euni were the perfect hosts and attentive. Their customer service was topnotch, which is rare for most local establishments. Right from when I enquired to when I checked out. They made sure to have someone to meet me on the Ilala and help me with disembarking and my bags. Their rooms are smart with a beautiful rustic touch to them that I found relaxing. My room had the perfect view of the lake and I loved how I could sit on my room's verandah and watch the sun rise or set. Their beach is immaculate and directly overlooks Chizumulu Island. Its close to the local fish market but its surpingly quiet and does not feel intrusive. Their staff are very friendly and super helpful. I had the option having a simple breakfast and dinner as part of my package. The food was very tasty and beyond my expectations. I definitely look forward to going back and staying with them again. Most of all they are super affordable so if you're looking to have a relaxing stay that doesn't drill a hole in your pockets then definitely check them put.

Ulisa Bay Lodge and Pottery Studio is a great place to spend a week. The hosts and staff were all super friendly. We bought some freshly caught fish from vendors at the outdoor lakeside market (which is just a two minute walk away) and the staff at the lodge helped us make a fire to smoke the fresh fish on the braai. The room was comfortable and clean and the restaurant served good food. Swimming in the lake was heavenly (bring goggles or a mask, so you can see all the gorgeous fish). We also enjoyed birdwatching and walks in the area. The lodge arranged a tour with local guides (via motorcycle) and that was awesome. The owners also helped us arrange transport via ferry, to and from the island. Hope to be back again soon. We loved our time here!
