Club Med La Palmyre Atlantique

C’est bien! Loved the Club Ados with Melem, it was supper fun. We played games by the pool and sports on the fields. Totally recommend ! This trip was truly so worth it, I ate so much and had the best time. I am so sad for this trip to end. Anyways this was supper!!

We stayed in a superior first floor room in the forest. It was in a beautiful tranquil setting and only five minutes walk from the resort centre. The room was comfortable with adequate storage space, but not luxurious. The shower was very good though. Compared with other Club Med resorts we have been to in Europe this one has an extensive list of included activities. We particularly enjoyed power walks, aqua gym, archery, step aerobics and sailing. There were plenty of other activities on offer and at the start of October group sizes for all activities were small so in some cases we even had one to one tuition. One can do aquagym twice a day at this resort and the pool is very big with swimming lanes over 30m long. The pool was also heated so warm enough to swim in in October. The resort has beautiful well kept grounds with some exotic plants and scented hedges. It is right next to a quiet unspoiled beach and there is an interesting walk along the beach one way to some world war two bunkers. There is a pedestrian and cycle track the other way to the water sports and village centre, although you can also get to the water sports on a Club Med petit train. Whilst mountain biking is an included activity there is an extra charge for borrowing bikes for normal cycling which is a pity as the area seems ideal for quiet road cycling too. The Club Med buffet was extensive and generally very high quality with a lot of seafood main course options and some delicious puddings. We ate very well. The only downside was that some of the vegetables were left steeped in water rather than strained. As others have mentioned there is a slight issue with small birds flying about near the aperitif nibbles and sometimes flying in the restaurant itself. However it was possible to find tables inside away from the birds. Despite being low season there was still a good Club Med vibe and GMs of all ages appeared to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. There were regular shows in the theatre in the evening. For us being able to practise our French is a bonus of Club Med holidays and this resort was not untypical of European Club Meds in that the majority of guests were native french speakers. Nevertheless the Manager Vahap lead the evening entertainment in French and English making everyone feel welcome. He also made a point of introducing himself to us on the first evening and was always approachable and friendly throughout our stay. Given that there were a number of non French speaking guests (eg Danes, Dutch, English, Americans and New Zealanders) some of the other GOs could have made a little more effort to involve non french speakers more, for example on the Karaoke night and during the after lunch coffee games. Particular thanks to GOs Magali, Martin and Olga who went out of their way to make us welcome and joined us for supper on separate nights and to Vito who welcomed us on the first day. One final reason we chose this Club Med was that it is really straightforward

We stayed here as a family with 4 children aged between 8 and 15. We chose the resort because of the included activities and because our children wanted to make friends at the kids' clubs. It's a real resort of contrasts. Some things are done so well, especially the food and the entertainment. The setting is beautiful with the trees, gardens, pool and beach. Accommodation is OK. Other things are just really poor. What was truly bad was the welcome and total lack of information. We had to wait ages for someone to meet us and when they did they gave us a minute's chat in a car park. No information pack was provided and the app is terrible. If you want to do a lit of the activities (sailing, windsurfing, cycling) you must queue at exactly 7pm every evening. Only the first 10-20 people in the queue get to do the activities. It took us about 3 days to work this system out and this is not 'all-inclusive' as advertised as many people miss out. If you want children to sail you have to book at 4pm at the kids club (but if you are doing another activity you will be unable to do this so your kids will miss out - again not as advertised). Food is delicious and lots of choice but we had concerns about the hygiene as there were so many birds flying around the restaurant. We saw birds eating from the bowl of sweetcorn and from the basket of croissants and also landing on the tables. Our children did not want to join the kids or teen club as the welcome meeting was only in French. We know other English-speakers felt the same. A lot of activities were in French with a token nod to adding a couple of English phrases. The quiz night in the theatre was not possible for us as our UK phones were incompatible with the app, coffee games each day also entirely French. There were not enough toilets at the pool, bar or restaurant and there was usually a queue and a bad smell. We also queued a lot for drinks at the bar and to use coffee machines. We enjoyed the pool, tennis , windsurfing and cycling as well as the dances. So overall, after spending a couple of days figuring out how the system worked, we had a great time but it would definitely have been better for French speakers as they would have been included more.

Being on the Atlantic coast of France and at the prices charged I was somewhat apprehensive as to how things would work out, bearing in mind we were a family aging between 4yo and 74yo. The weather was great, the facilities, rooms, selection of food, entertainment and activities for kids were all very good.
