Fort Charlotte Guest House

Was lucky enough to stay here during a work trip to Shetland. Clean comfortable modern room which is well equipped, excellent breakfast and the most lovely friendly staff who cannot do enough for you. Would recommend to anyone visiting Shetland.

Four of us were on the island for work and were lucky enough to get booked in here. What a lovely place, beautifully decorated, well equipped and so friendly. It really was a home from home and somewhere you could relax after a long day. Breakfasts were excellent, freshly cooked to order with good quality ingredients. Thank you to all at Fort Charlotte, you were brilliant!!

Likely the best guest house accommodation in Lerwick if not the Shetland Isles. Ryan has done a great job with it and makes every visitor very welcome. I arrived in to Lerwick early morning after a sleepless overnight ferry trip from Aberdeen. I was looking to drop a bag off there before afternoon check-in. My room was however already prepped for me , and Ryan allowed me to access it early - which was very much appreciated. The room was well finished and furnished, to include a very handy fridge. Good en-suite bathroom. Tho I didn’t sample the cooked breakfast options apart from the porridge, the continental breakfast was very good, and the service from Ryan, his mom, and Kelly was also very good. Good standard overall and a great location for Lerwick central. Highly recommended.

This was my second stay in the Guest house, I choose to return because the location, excellent hosting, super breakfasts and comfortable rooms. My return was just as good as my last. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming and I had a great sleep. I would recommend choosing Fort Charlotte Guest house to anyone visiting Lerwick or Shetlands in general. Thank you and hopefully see you all again.

Fabulous and a great, well located place to stay. Ryan and Anita and their staff are always helpful and can give advice and guidance on anything Shetland related. A quiet place to stay in the middle of Lerwick with great access to all areas of the island. I will be staying here for all my subsequent trips to Shetland. Superb.

We loved Fort Charlotte Guest House. It was perfectly situated for shopping, dining, and walking the paths along the coast and inland. It's also walkable from the ferry terminal and multiple bus stops. More than all that, we really enjoyed Ryan and Anita, and the rest of their staff. They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We stayed in room 4, which faces the water so we were able to see Bressay. The breakfast was fantastic - I loved the french toast. We will definitely be staying here any time we are in Shetland.
