Fort Charlotte Guest House

Outstanding guest house, great communication, fantastic room, perfect breakfast. Really welcoming owners and employees. Really impressed from start to finish. We will be visiting Shetland again and will certainly be looking to stay here again. First class

A gem. Ideally located about 20 metres from Commercal Rd, Lewrick with a variety of good restaurants and shops to visit. Hosts Ryan, Anita, Lynda and team were hospitable and welcoming and offered suggestions on restaurants and things to do. Breakfast at the guest house was excellent and a perfect way to start the day. Ryan's email orientation guide which we received.before we left Australia was very helpful and he referred us to Asif from Shetland Taxis who met us at Sumburgh airport. Ryan and Asif helped with our luggage as my mobilty was restricted. We arranged for Asif to provide a guided island tour. (I will write separate reviews for Asif, Shetland Taxis and restaurants.) As an extra bonus the BBC was filming for the Shetland series and on the following day there was a Pride parade which we could view from the windows of the breakfast room. (The rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of parade participants and friends.) We stayed in room 1 with the double bed converted to 2 good sized singles. The room comfotably accomodated 2 adults. It had a modern shower room and was spotlessly clean. I highly recommend Fort Charlotte Guest house.

My husband and I enjoyed a four-night stay at the Fort Charlotte Guest House, and we were delighted. Ryan and Anita were wonderful hosts, and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfasts were delicious, with much variety offered, and the atmosphere was always friendly and welcoming from every single staff member. They offered suggestions for nearby activities and sites of interest and were so pleasant to be around. The location is ideal; the price for value is excellent; and the accommodations were comfortable and attractive. We're so glad we made this our choice for our first visit to Lerwick.

Our thoughts; This accommodation is a little gem amongst the beautiful old world Lerwick stone buildings built in the latter half of the nineteenth century. The small attention to detail offered at this accommodation is notable. Little things here and there that we noticed during our short stay did make a difference. This place is centrally located in the heart of old Lerwick, what more could we ask for. The people that own and run the Fort Charlotte Guesthouse were very communicative and mindful of our needs. The room was very clean and neat plus beautifully appointed. We loved it. Big tick from us.

Friendly and welcoming. Lovely room with a great view of Lerwick. Very clean and comfortable. Could not of asked for anything more. Definitely would stay again. They kept me updated about our arrival. It was easy to get into with a keyless entry. Above and beyond expectations.

The Fort Charlotte Guest House is the best place to stay for Shetland Wool Week. The atmosphere is cozy. The location is central. The hosts are beyond helpful and the breakfasts are delicious. And, honestly, if there hadn’t been availability there I wouldn’t have come at all this year. They are that central to my Lerwick experience. Thank you to the owners and staff.

Great location in Lerwick, near shopping, restaurants and bars. Beautiful house, large rooms and great breakfast with multiple choices. Ryan, Anita, Kelly and the rest of the staff make you feel so welcome and were very flexible with our travel issues.

The Fort Charlotte Guest House is ideally located in downtown Lerwick, near Commercial Street. Accessing the building upon arrival was easy thanks to being provided with key code in advance. The entire house is immaculately clean and our room was well appointed. We especially appreciated the many power outlets that made it easy to charge our electronic devices. There are breakfast options to suit any appetite. If we return to Lerwick, we will definitely be looking to stay here again.

This guest house had a hidden, cozy atmosphere and was just the size for me. The room's interior was also charming and calming, and the view of the old town from the window added a lovely touch. It was very enjoyable to start the day by having a delicious breakfast and chatting with the people at the guesthouse. It's a guest house I would like to visit again.
