The White Horse Hotel

Stayed here after the Suffolk Coast Path 50k and ate there in the evening. Sat in the Snug which was a nice. Staff were very attentive and got our order quickly which was good as daughter was hangry. Start with bread and olives which were delicious. For the main my wife had the rump steak, daughter had children’s spaghetti and I had nachos. My wife said the steak was the best steak she’d ever had, my daughter loved the spaghetti which was a generous portion for a child and came with garlic focaccia and the nachos were delicious. We ordered some extra chips (I had run 50k that day!) and they were very nice. The waiter recommended a lager - flint eye - which was really nice, and we’d never drink before. My daughter and I had Belgian waffles for dessert, which were very nice. We were then able to sit and play cards for a while before heading up to bed. Room was very nice and clean. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so nice.

Visit to Leiston to play county bowls and stopped for a meal on the way home. Good menu, reasonable price, good selection of beers and very friendly staff. The ladies selected the scampi and chips and the men rare rump steaks and chips. Well presented and tasty food. Plenty of parking space.

It may not look much from the outside, but as the title suggests this is one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in. We were in Room 4 - top floor facing out towards the pelican crossing (I got bored of the beep beep beep very quickly, but fortunately not many people use it during the twilight hours). Every single bit of metal highly polished, not a single smear on any tap, pane of glass,, mirror, light switch plate or metal trim. All recent décor - and the fan/light "spaceship" was a nice modern touch too - although I did have to go back downstairs to find out how to turn it off as there's no obvious switch on the walls - it's all controlled by a wee remote. The smart TV is huge too (in this room). A very good stay and great night's sleep.
