The Selsey Arms

Took friends to Selsey Arms on Sunday for lunch.Came up after quiet a while waiting looking lovely but was a little cold.We we’re sitting opposite Servery quiet put out by the Chef. Y the Chef putting pot on plate by hand no gloves.It was a shame

Great pub to find along our route. Warm welcoming vibe. Dropped in with friends for lunch and had best ever Liver and Bacon! Good selection of beer and friendly attentive staff. Nicely balanced menu. This pub would be my local if I lived in the area! Highly recommended.

I've stayed at The Selsey Arms multiple times while completing my MSc at the Weald and Downland, and it’s been fantastic every time. The food is outstanding—easily the best I’ve had in a pub, with an exceptional cooked breakfast included. The calves liver and bacon is probably the best ive ever had. The rooms are modern, comfortable, clean. The staff are always welcoming, and landlady Nicky makes everyone feel at home. If you’re looking for great food, a friendly atmosphere, and a comfortable stay, at a very reasonable price you can't beat this place.

I chose this hotel because it was the closest available accomodation to the Repair Shop at the Weald and Downland Museum. I was totally satisfied with every aspect of the stay at this property. We had room 4 and the proprietress was kind enough to supply a rollout bed as we required twin bedding. ( all rooms are doubles I believe.) Anyhow, the room was very spacious with a king size bed and a fully kitted shower bath room. Plenty of crisp towels pillows and linen . They also have some form of satellite TV. This hotel can be reached from outside the Chichester Cathedral by Stagecoach bus 60 which runs at 30 minute intervals. The bus stops literally outside the door. The bus back into Chichester stops outside the hotel similarly, every half hour. Or… if you’ve got limited time or lots of luggage, it’s about £18 for a taxi from Chichester station. We ate almost all our meals here ( breakfast is included in the tariff) and the food was delicious and substantial. The proprietress, who does most of the cooking, offers vegan options as well as traditional English fare. Overall, great food and well priced. Weald and Dowland museum is a 25 minute walk from here. Chichester town centre - 15- 20 minutes by bus. Overall great experience and highly recommended if you’re looking for a good traditional English Inn.

Very good food. I had fish and chips which was not particularly adventurous but the batter was some of the best I've ever had - and, believe me, I've had a lot of fish and chips in my time! The chips were a little thick cut for me but were nonetheless delicious. Unfortunately, all this came with some peas which did leave rather a lot to be desired. The service was excellent regardless of the fact that the pub was very busy due to a large party of M.G. fans. Staff were friendly and efficient and the prices were very good indeed. I would thoroughly recommend if you are in the West Dean area of Sussex. My wife and our friend's wife had a veggie burger made primarily from beetroot. They were both so impressed with these, they sent their compliments to the chef and asked if it was his own recipe. The waitress said it was and that she would pass their comments on. Then - guess what - he wrote down the recipe for each them and sent it to the table! We were all much impressed.

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are a good size and has everything you need. The bed was comfortable.The food was delicious and the portions were big. Breakfast had a good selection. The location was perfect. Would stay again
