Hotel LIVVO Fataga

Un hotel perfecto, en el corazón de la ciudad. El único detalle negativo es que la hora de entrada es demasiado tarde a las 14:00 y si tienes una cita es una desventaja. Ahora muchos hoteles trabajan así, pero no lo veo bien.

Pas mal

We chose this hotel for its central location - a couple of minutes walk from Plaza de España and El Corte Ingles, and the availability of breakfast - which was very good, with all the hot and cold choices anyone could need. An added bonus was that the breakfast room was not noisy, so we could have a conversation over breakfast! The beds were very comfortable and the shower was good. Again, very peaceful - we didn’t hear any noise from any other rooms or the corridor. There were also effective blackout curtains. When we first checked in our safe didn’t work but we reported it and it was fixed the next day. I had mistakenly thought we should have been provided with slippers in the room. I was wrong, it was only for the junior suites, but they kindly provided us with them anyway. One negative point was rather poor Wi-Fi. Web pages very slow to load and often my iPad couldn’t connect at all. Also, a minor niggle - the aircon control panel was almost incomprehensible - tiny switches and displays, the display only stayed on for a second at a time, not at all intuitive and no instructions provided. But once we got it going it worked fine. We would return if in Las Palmas again.

If internet is important for you, make sure it's working. During our TEN day stay we were promised by Ramon (front desk manager) it would be fixed but, never was. A router is ALL that was needed... A high speed internet is expected from a FOUR star hotel. All other services were EXCELLENT

Unfortunately this hotel did not live up to expectations, given it is meant to be 5*. 1) They said they arranged airport transfers, contacted them by email to ask about transfers and buses but no reply, so got a very expensive taxi €47!! They should have a link on their website “how to get here”. 2) Check in 2pm but couldn’t get in my room until after 3.30pm 3) WiFi intermittent, it works but not consistent, not god enough if working. 4) No tea and coffee in a standard room. 5) Shower head kept falling down shower rail as support broken. 6) Shower tray felt very cheap, like it would snap at any point, lots of movement in it. 7) Hot water pressure and temperature intermittent. 8) Thin walls so can hear people chatting next door, bring ear plugs to sleep! 9) Only one lift working so lots of waiting around, used stairs in the end to 5th floor as was quicker. 10) Good breakfast though, good variety of things! 11) Clean rooms and nice comfy bed 12) But lots of patch up work done on maintenance things in room, so made it look a bit shabby / cheap. But looks good from afar. 13) Roof terrace only had 5 sun loungers so needed to use cushions from chairs to lie down. Not much room on the terrace either. 14) Loungers needed to be replaced, very well worn and head rests not sturdy (just fell down). 15) Jacuzzi and sauna not working. I think there are better hotels for your money.

We stayed in this hotel for five nights in early December as part of a package city break. We reached the hotel by taxi from the airport (approx. €45) although we understand there to be a bus service into the city centre. There is car parking on site. The hotel has just under 100 rooms over seven floors – the highest floors might have business space but we did not investigate. It is in a good location for everything being a five minute walk from the main shopping street and close to bus services. We understand it to have been taken over by Livvo in 2022. The hotel does accommodate guests with impaired mobility. There is no bar or restaurant. The problem with this hotel is that it suffers from an absence of any competent management. In our attempts to contact the female Director at a weekend we were told there was no management presence at all in the hotel on Saturday or Sunday – the only point of contact was (in his own words) a regular receptionist. Whilst helpful he had no corporate authority - unlike many of his colleagues he had reasonable spoken English. Telephone calls and emails to the Directora were ignored by her (and still are). Variously we were told she was “working at home” / “ill”. The hotel does have – so we are told – assistant managers, but they were not on site either. It needs management to direct the maintenance teams. Our window didn’t open (handle was broken), the bathroom basin did not hold water, the centrally controlled clock was showing the wrong time and had been since the end of October (it had not been adjusted for the end of Daylight Saving). It needs management to direct the housekeeping which might best be described as erratic. Servicing of our room was invariably around 15:00 hrs unless we complained. One day it was absent entirely and we searched out our own clean towels. Public areas were left with debris from food and drink for hours. Windows hadn’t been cleaned for some time. It needs management to address the major difficulty with what appeared to be the principal lift - serving all floors in the hotel although with another in a separate location serving floors 1-3 only. This small lift serviced six floors exclusively and was used by housekeeping to move around service trolleys. At certain times of the day for guests to use this lift meant a long wait, squeezing in with dirty linen and exiting by contorting around the service trolley. For any guests with any mobility impairment use of the lift would have been impossible. The hotel does take groups although not with the obvious signs prevalent in many Spanish hotels. The major problem for us was that the hotel accommodates large groups of schoolchildren which we incurred at the weekend. The breakfast room is large enough when fully opened but with only two members of staff supervising the schoolchildren overwhelmed the seating space and the buffet area.
