A beautiful place with stunning views over the vineyards and the the mountains in the distance. Charles and his wife were lovely, and Charles came in every night to light the fire. Beautifully appointed downstairs area and we were allowed use of the kitchen for our stay. There are plenty of bedrooms upstairs to accommodate larger groups or just two people if needed.

We stayed at one of the cottages for three nights as part of our South African ‘road trip’ as a result of a recommendation from friends who had used the cottages previously. We chose the one bedroom cottage and this met our needs perfectly. The cottage offers a ‘home from home’ place to stay. It is cosy, but spacious, well equipped and set in a truly beautiful location. When we visit the area again in the future we will certainly return to the cottage. We would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to others. A new service offered by the owners Charles and Jane is to purchase breakfast at their recently opened B&B -less than a five minute walk away. We decided to do this on one morning during our stay and were delighted we did. The B&B looks superb and the breakfast room offers amazing views of the valley. Charles provided an excellent breakfast at a very reasonable cost and this enhanced our stay. There is also a small swimming pool at the B&B available to visitors to the one bedroom cottage (we understand the larger of the two cottages has its own pool). This is a very welcome additional amenity in warm weather. Our whole visit made us feel we were experiencing a little piece of paradise.

Really lovely four nights in countryside east of Robertson! The house was very clean, well equipped, on good condition (only slight problem with the heater was fixed immediately) and such a peaceful and pleasant day. Had the weather just been bit warmer to enjoy its lovely stoep... Location is really quiet, but so many wineries and other attractions just 15min drive away. Self catering was easy. Really good kitchen, good washing machine, pleasant shower. However, there is one restaurant only some 800m away and short drive to many others.

Great accomodation, very clean, good sleep quality, well equipped and quiet at night. Well located to hike and explore the region . Attentive hosts and all was good. We stayed at the Opstal cottage several times and will certainly return. Recommended!

Beautiful Cottage set in the heart of a vineyard with an outside veranda to enjoy the sunsets. Perfect way to chill after a long flight. This is our second visit and we cannot wait to visit next year. Jane and Charles are perfect hosts living about 300 m away, but on hand should you have any queries
