What a lovely place to stay. We had a very warm and friendly welcome. It was clean and well taken care. Our room had everything we needed. Very helpful with any queries and requests. Lovely breakfast. Brilliant location just a few minutes walk to the town centre.

Very friendly staff making a very enjoyable stay.We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra few days.A warm cosy room with a powerful hot shower just what you need after hiking the fells & a great variety for breakfast to start your day. Thankyou Panch & The Gable family we will be back.

Great stay at The Gables for a winter break. Room was clean and comfortable. Pleased to find fresh milk available for tea and coffee - nice touch! Glad they had a drying room available for soggy walking attire. Had to check out earlier than planned due to weather but they were really understanding and made a note for consideration at future bookings. We'll be back!

We chose this guest house for the location, which is in an ideal location to get to amenities. I will start with the positives: Large spacious room Plenty of storage room Good location Drying room is you needed it Negatives. Constant messages and emails before you arrive (too many) Slow breakfast service most mornings Cold rooms which was brought up as did another guest Bathroom very cold.- not ideal for winter and we were not aware of this before our stay.

Staying here currently been here for x 4 weeks with work already and beyond, the gables is absolutely spotlessly clean, everything catered for, Rohan the owner is amazing friendly and will answer any questions you may have with the tapestry on the Lake District and his premises at the gables, staff are incredibly friendly and helpful Lou Lou is also a very knowledgable member of staff and can direct you to all the site, this guesthouse is one of the best in the lakes highly recommend.

Good to back at this great location for Ambleside town centre and easy access to the Lakes. Very comfy room, great breakfast and very friendly staff. Plenty hot water for long showers after a High Dam swim and drying room for our gear. Great fun!

Just returned from the gables ,great place to stay ,great base to go off from to explore the area ,the gables was clean and comfi room ,great breakfast plenty of choice ,very friendly staff ,bonus they have own car park well lit up and safe ,good night sleep aswell

Our , third visit. Great central location. Room , good size. WiFi easily accessed. Good strong shower. Good breakfast options , though hard to resist the full Lakeland. Friendly staff , made us feel very welcome. May well return next year for a 4th time.

Went for our honeymoon and The Gables was the perfect end to our week. Stayed two extremely comfortable nights, ate wonderful breakfast and enjoyed every minute. Staff were so lovely and extremely helpful. Location is perfect for exploring the towns gift shops, eateries, pubs or adventuring off into the hills! We will be back!

While I did find the guesthouse to be clean, tidy, and in a great location close to local amenities, there were a few issues that made my stay less pleasant than I had hoped. During breakfast, I was asked out loud in front of other guests whether I had paid, despite the funds already being in place. It was an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience. Additionally, I became unwell after eating breakfast on Monday, which unfortunately affected my ability to have breakfast this morning. There were also a few issues with the room (room 10): the bathroom’s louvre doors were quite awkward and a hindrance, and the extractor fan ran for too long, creating a lot of noise, especially since there wasn’t a proper door. This made it difficult to sleep. The single bed mattress was also quite uncomfortable, which further impacted my ability to get a good night’s rest. Also, as I was unwell due to eating the breakfast on Monday I had to retire to bed in the afternoon, interrupted by workers in the next room banging.

From the minute we arrived at The Gables we were treated like friends. The location was perfect for the countless number of places we wanted to visit. Neither of us had visited the Lakes before and there was always someone on hand when we needed travel guidance. Our room was just right and the bed so comfortable. As for breakfast; the chef was amazing both for me a vegetarian and my wife a ‘traditional full English’ eater. Do try the scrambled eggs on toast … awesome ! Altogether it was perfect.

A very clean, comfortable and friendly guesthouse, in a great location. The facilities were great including tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, tv, fluffy towels and a comfortable bed. The breakfast with all its options was fantastic. I will definitely stay again.

Very friendly and helpful staff, breakfast had a good selection and enjoyable. Fantastic location. Some parking but easy to find alternative if there are no spaces. Very good value for money, would recommend for solo travel if you like somewhere quiet.

Very quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean B&B in a great location close to the centre of Ambleside. There’s a small private car park and limited road parking opposite. Cooked breakfast was very tasty. Very helpful staff. Overall happy to recommend
