We booked a family room, which turned out to be two adjoining twin/double rooms (*** and 537) which was perfect for our family of 4. The location was excellent, with our rooms directly overlooking two chairlifts, the main gondola, and the base of the black World Cup downhill run. However, noise was an issue at night. Our rooms faced the main square, and the bar on the corner played loud music until around midnight. On one night, there was significant drunken shouting in the early hours. I’d strongly recommend bringing earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. The beds were firm but comfortable. The room had a controllable heater, which was great for drying gloves, though it could get quite warm at times. Having a balcony area was also a nice touch. The boot room was spacious but only had one heater, so we ended up taking our boots to the room for drying, which worked much better. The lifts were a bit outdated and could be slow. And strangely the sign for the floors in the lift was upside down, which took a little getting used it. We stayed on a bed-and-breakfast basis and were assigned the same table each morning in the large dining hall. The breakfast buffet had a good variety, including fried eggs, scrambled eggs, streaky bacon, German sausage, yoghurts, salads, cereals, and a selection of hams and cheeses. The highlight was definitely the pastries—both the croissants and doughnuts were excellent. There was also a station for toasties and pancakes, along with self-service coffee and juice. A barista was available for fresh coffee, though one of them was particularly grumpy! We paid extra for the buffet dinner on two occasions and found the food to be good, with a nice selection of dishes that changed each time. Plenty of pasta, cooked meats and salads. Overall, the hotel staff were friendly, aside from the aforementioned grumpy barista. The location is perfect for accessing the slopes, with a few nearby restaurants, a pub, and a hotel bar. There’s enough variety for a week, though any longer and you’d likely be revisiting the same places. The town is a 10-minute walk away and offers a small selection of shops, bars, and a great steakhouse. We didn’t get a chance to try the swimming pool so can’t comment on that. Would I stay here again? Possibly—but I’d definitely pack earplugs!
