Arenal Xilopalo

I had a great stay here for 2 nights in Feb 2025. The room was spacious and close to wildlife. The breakfast was the highlight. Delicious french toast! The birds that come to feed in the morning were brilliant! The staff put out bananas for them to feed on ensuring they return each day!

This hotel has everything, as well as being great value for money. Slightly out of the main La Fortuna area, but close enough to enjoy a stroll to the local restaurants. The main attraction for us was the location and the wildlife. Mount Arenal is the backdrop where you can view it over breakfast, alongside all the wildlife that visit. We saw toucans, woodpeckers, red squirrels, humming and countless other birds I can't name. There is a relax/pool area too. We booked a number of tours through the hotel, and found they were cheaper than booking through the providers website. I would highly recommend doing Armandos sloth tour, and he was also on hand just after sunset to take you through the gardens and point out the frogs and lizards which we'd never have found. All in all, we've love it here. The staff were very friendly

Stayed at its sister hotel the Arsenal Monara but we used its facilities. The dining area is great for bird watching while eating a good breakfast Its Acacia restaurant is a bit hit and miss. My meal was disappointing my wife’s brilliant.The service was brilliant thank you Fabian. The hotel staff are superb and excellent at sorting out tours

A truly exceptional place in La Fortuna!!! The staff was absolutely wonderful, incredibly kind, and beyond accommodating. All of their recommendations for things to do locally in La Fortuna are so thoughtful, and every single experience that we booked through Arenal Xilopalo ended up being extraordinary (we did a sloth tour and white water rafting)! The rooms were huge and clean, the pool was glorious, and the breakfast and dinner options were extraordinary. I was so sad to leave after a full 4 days here, and I will be staying here again if and when I return to Costa Rica!

We had the best time. Everyone from the front desk to the restaurant/bar guy. We got in and hadn't slept in over 24 hours. And they got us right to our room and we passed out. The rooms are basic and it's all you need. The AC works SO amazingly. We even shut it off the second day and never needed it back on. Go look at the sunrises and sunsets of the volcano. It's worth it.

Lovely breakfast and from your breakfast table you have a good view of the Vulcano and there are some feeding platforms offering excellent bird viewing opportunities.The new pool is very beautiful and surrounded by natural water visited by iguanas, green basilisks and tiny red frogs.
