THE GATE HOTEL KYOTO TAKASEGAWA by HULIC

Comfortable with the environment around the hotel，early check in service from the staff，wonderful breakfast enjoying sightseeing of Higashiyama

The best stay in Kyoto ever! Perfect location, beautiful vintage hotel, but modern amenities and wonderful staff. Would stay again!

Great location, they have e-cigarette smoking rooms with a nice view (room 401). And the (in&outside) lounge with free wine and Softdrinks is cool.

Unbelievable Japanese breakfast! Make sure you check out the view of the Kabuki theatre on the lounge floor at night, magnificent

Excellent location, set behind one of the busiest shopping streets and very central so everything is walkable, yet with being on the river the setting is very peaceful. Common areas are lovely to lounge in. Staff are not the warmest, which is unusual for Japan. Rooms are tiny, nowhere to open a suitcase, we just had ours open in the middle of everything and had to keep stepping over it. Our room had lots of natural light. Everything was very clean, decor simple and basic. I would stay again, but only if I got a good deal on the room rate as I feel the average prices for a room here are way too expensive ordinarily.

I strongly recommended this hotel. This hotel has spacous room with a big washroom, nice and elegant feel. I got two nights staying in kyoto, the location is very convenient and just around 3 mins walk to the main street for shopping and eating places. The bed is very comfortable, we got a very present stay here, I will sure book this hotel if I visited Kyoto again. Also we got free drinks and entry to the roof top lounge, we can spent a calm night watching the city view, it's also a good place for working holiday person too, the lounge also got complimentary meeting room as we saw. Overall, very appreciated our choice of picking this hotel.

Excellent location — just next to Shijo (四条) and beside the Kamo River (鸭川). I did my morning run along the river and easily completed a 10km round trip. Across the bridge is Gion, and on the opposite main road is Kyoto Takashimaya. All the shopping areas are within easy walking distance. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is beautifully built on the site of a former primary school, which gives it a unique character. There are two cafés on Level 1 — one of them is the popular Blue Bottle Coffee. There are also two Western dining options on Level 1. Level 8 offers a lovely view and features the front desk, bar, and hotel restaurant, making it a great place to relax. Will definitely come back again!!

A great location which near to bus station and subway station. I have a great walk around the around for shopping and easily get transport to any of attraction locations. The hotel is nice. Providing a nice breakfast with multiple main dish selection, besides, they do have some monthly culture activity which let me learn more anout it. Overall good stay.. Just 1 small improvment is to consider provide early check in without additional charge especially for those guest with multiple nights stay.

The hotel is beautiful and quite spacious. There are plenty of cafés on the ground floor, as well as a large outdoor public area where you can relax. The room was clean, spacious, and had a luxurious feel. The location is also excellent—it's within walking distance of downtown Kyoto, making it easy to reach many restaurants and shopping areas. Highly recommended! 👍
