Located at main road junction. Efficient staff. Comfortable room. My room was facing the road so there was car noise but I didn’t have trouble sleeping. Slept well. Shared facilities not crowded. There is a card to lock your luggage at the ground level storage room. Had great one night stay.

A unique hostel-like stay with a private room but shared bathroom. Clean and comfortable. The location in Kyoto is perfect-right near the bus station where I caught my overnight bus to Tokyo (shoutout to the receptionist girl who told me where to buy the ticket!). I walked to all the major sights from here, and there's a 7-Eleven right across the street. The lobby is spacious, great for eating or relaxing, and they even provide really nice pajamas. Highly recommend staying at least one night to explore Kyoto!

This is not a hotel of three stars. It is a HOSTEL.  I stayed here after I extended my stay by a night in Kyoto and everything was full - at least those with  reasonable prices.  It was a single room with shared bathroom. It was a mixed floor with separate toilets for men and women. The showers were only on the 2nd floor.  Hotel/sleeping wear was available for free but I changed the first top as it smelt unwashed. I made my own bed after taking the little table off the raised dias and sliding it under the bed so you need to be active!. There is a mirror with a small ledge under it.  No rubbish bin as you are asked to take it out of the room to the communal bins on the  floor.  The whole place is fairly new and very clean, and location is great.  There are a couple of vending and laundry machines  along with large canisters of hot water and a microwave.  Breakfast is two doors down in the cafe which was ok. It is run by Sotetsu chain but should be classed as a hostel not hotel. You can leave luggage early before checkin or after checkout for a few hours. The staff at reception were helpful but it certainly isn’t a hotel. Most hostel’s have a place to prepare your own food not just a microwave. Not value for money IMHO.

A Hotel with subway Station just outside hotel for easy trafer to Kyoto station which is also a stop away. Amenities is good enough. free breakfast at restaurant just few meters away.

Great location with just 1 min walk from Gojo Station Exit 1 (you will have to climb the stairs cause lift is at another exit). Close to McDonald’s, local restaurants, and convenience stores. The room is compact, lighting a bit dim, but clean overall. You’ll need to do your own garbage sorting as well (as per hotel labels), which is simple to follow. Overall it’s a great choice for solo traveler

The location of this hotel was very good and close by the train stations and attractions. The hotel was very clean and provided us with a lot of amenities. We also had breakfast included in our stay which was also very nice at the restaurant next door. 

Coin lockers, kettle, microwave on first floor, clean ladies bathroom, all provided with amenities including pajamas! Room was also only the width of the bed but provided with a small sit-down table, and a compartment under the bed big enough to fit my large luggage. Location was convenient - a 20min walk to main kyoto area but only 1min walk to metro station and great access to buses going to other areas of kyoto. Felt safe as a solo female traveller👍

Excellent location, good facilities, nice staff, restaurants and supermarket nearby.

I had a good stay, the rooms are quiet snd everything is clean. The price is very reasonable and it’s one station away from Kyoto station!

The Pocket Hotel offers a no-frills experience at a reasonable price. The room is just large enough to accomodate the futon you are given to sleep on and a little more. For people who need a bed to sleep, I definitely would not recommend this location. That said, I would say the room has everything on might need for a good night's sleep. The air conditioner is perfectly functional, a necessity in Kyoto's sweltering summers. Additionally, the limited space definitely means that accomodating guests with gargantuan suitcases is probably not possible. The washroom, while well furnished and perfectly serviceable, is public and located outside of one's room and is accessed by the same key card as the one used for one's room. In addition, the shower, located on the first floor for men and second for women, is also public use and accessed in the same way as the washroom. That said, the showers are split into individual rooms, so I would suggest one is offered more than sufficient privacy despite its public nature. If these minor inconveniences are unacceptable for you, this hotel is not the right one for you. As for the hotel's location, the hotel is fairly well positioned to go see Kiyomizudera and is a short walk from the subway. In addition, there are a number of great restaurants in the vicinity. In particular, there is a great abundance of ramen restaurants so it could be decent location to stop by to sample a number of different bowls. Between Daikoku Ramen, Ramen Rin, Ramen Yokozuna, Ginjo Ramen Kubota, and New Taihou, I enjoyed my daily dose of noodles for sure. It is also worth noting that there is a convenience store across the street and a pharmacy a little down the street. The pharmacy is a great place to pick up 2L bottles of drinks, but be warned that they might not be refrigerated. It's also worth noting that there is a Yoshinoya, McDonald's, and Yayoi Ken nearby so if you ever feel the need for a quick meal, it can easily me solved at a moment's notice. Overall, I would say this hotel is not one to stay at for the hotel experience, but rather as an option simply have a place to rest with proper privacy.
