Grand Opera Hotel

A great location in the centre of the town. Our room was so hot when we arrived but managed to get it cool by the time it was bedtime. The bathroom could do with an update but everything else was fine. The pillow was comfortable and the room quiet. We didn't realise there was a bar downstairs until we went for breakfast. The breakfast staff were lovely and helpful and it was one of the best breakfast spreads we experienced in Georgia.

The hotel is located in the center of Kutaisi, which is almost the only good thing about it. The room is spacious and good; Negatives: 1) Reception - limited knowledge of English, Russian or any other foreign languages. Some of the things when were requested were not understood 1.1) Workers at the reception were always either with their friends talking (not paying attention to the guests) or smoking outside of the main entrance 2) Breakfast - minimal selection, however always tasty and good. Nothing special. 3) Housekeeping did not come every day 4) Some of the toilet items (I.e. toilet paper) were not kept in stock so you had to ask at the reception 5) Air Conditioning in the room is semi-working 6) Requests for dry-cleaning services were left unanswered 7) WiFi in the hotel does not work at all 8) Overall quality of service does not deserve 4 stars - there are other hotels in the area, which are rated 4 stars, which have a completely different level of service

We stayed there for a day and while we were having a good time at the hotel, on the day of check out we had to take late check out which we paid for however the same information was not communicated to the entire houskeeping team by the front desk team. Now mind you, we have paid for the late check out and had this full conversation with the front desk that we will be staying till 5pm and still somehow housekeeping entered our room using the masterkey while we were inside the room already! No apologies, no empathy, nothing from the staff. We went to the front desk straight after that incident and their response was -‘ oh yes, sorry, they thought we CHECKED OUT’ I have been going back and forth with *********** and the hotel sales team, but now they have just stopped replying altogether after promising me a refund if and only if I take down the review (which I agreed to if they made sure that proper trainings will be put in place and only once the refund reaches my account) After promising me the refund, they have been MIA and *********** has credited 1000 rupees to my account while I paid 15000 for the entire stay plus the late check out charges! More than the money it is simply about the ethics. They are the most unempathetic bunch of customer service associates I have met till date. (The restaurant staff was extremely nice and we loved the restaurants, the location is so nice for the hotel as well, i just wish the experience would have been A LOT BETTER i terms of the privacy part and security part.)

The Grand Opera hotel is located in a stylish building in the heart of Kutaisi. All the major attractions (except Bagrati Cathedral) are within walking distance. We got a warm welcome at check-in. Our room was comfortable, clean and nicely furnished. Wifi worked very well. Breakfast was quite good voor Georgian standards. Staff at reception desk was very friendly and tried to help as much as possible. The Grand Opera hotel is highly recommended!

A well appointed modern hotel in an old building, right in the centre of Kutaisi. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff in the restaurant and breakfast bar were friendly and helpful. So why only three stars ? On check in we found our room stank of cigarette smoke. The receptionist looked annoyed, said it was the air conditioning ( really ?) , turned it off, opened all the windows and left without a word. We spent an unpleasant night breathing smoke fumes from the pillows, curtains and soft furnishings. The following day we asked our guide to help as we wanted to change room. The receptionist gave the same excuse and said they would clean the room. Two hours later we returned to find they had sprayed a whole can of air freshener around the room. It now stank of smoke and air freshener. This was bad enough but it was the attitude of the staff member that stank more. We were a nuisance and he didn't give a damn. We got our room changed eventually but our room was not cleaned or the bed made up for the rest of our stay.....a coincidence ? I don't usually give detailed reviews like this but someone needs to shake up the management of this otherwise excellent hotel. I wonder if I'll even get feedback ?

I once again had the pleasure of visiting the Grand Opera Hotel and this time I took a couple of friends with me while traveling in Georgia. This hotel has a great location, great people, and a great presence. The manager and staff were welcoming and courteous, providing a smooth and efficient check-in. The property is beautiful and the views from a large terrace are breathtaking. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean, and super comfortable. The service overall was impeccable and the breakfast hall and the dining area were so elegant with marvelous paintings, decorations, and soft Jazz playing in the background, that we enjoyed and stretched our meal times. My friends and the other guests gave many compliments for the quality and variety of delicious Georgian food offered to us. They also made us a cappuccino with a smile on top. In a couple of minutes from the hotel, we were able to visit unique places in the old city of Kutaisi – the Prometheus Cave, Sataplia Cave dinosaur footprints, and gorgeous cathedrals. The overall inviting and personal staff made it a lovely stay. And the view… Thank you, Grand Opera Hotel!!!
