Reef & Beach Resort - Spa Jambiani

Beautiful sunset, good bar & meals, Amazing facility (literally everywhere is more than great) and nice hospitality. I should have booked here at least 3 nights. If you want to stay near famous beaches, then tourist attractions are not in walking distance, but you dont even need to go, staying in this resort is perfect enough. GOOD VIBE!!

Just got back from a two week stay at this lovely hotel. Travelled solo and had a great time , all the staff were very welcoming and i felt totally safe . The hotel is immaculate, my room was cleaned daily and the maid would come back in the evening and spray bug spray and put the mosquito net around the bed. The shower worked well , plenty of hot water and complimentary shower gel , shampoo and hand wash ( need to bring your own hair conditioner ) There is a hair drier and safe which you get a key for in your room. Food wise there is an Indian and a Italian restaurant which you book a day in advance plus the main restaurant which was closed for refurbishment until my last day . All restaurant were buffet style and had live cooking stations and you can get a wide range of food to suit all taste. As with all buffets some of the food isnt always piping hot and they can attract flies but the hotel does its best to keep food covered and deter bugs . The food was tasty and plentiful. Snacks were provided in the times the restaurants were closed at the mango bar or jetty bar . There are two pools which i didnt use much as i preferred to sunbathe on the deck which had steps that took you into the green waters of the Indian ocean. Several Masai men are on the beach , and they will approach you to go to their little village (next to the hotel) where they sell things or they want to show you star fish . They are harmless but slightly annoying as sometimes you just want to relax in peace. The hotel has a spa and gym , few shops on site and has an entertainment team who do shows activities etc. Beach towels are provided free of charge via a towel card and can be changed daily. The hotel is a bit remote and not much nearby but there are plenty of local guides that will take you around the island for a reasonable price. You can also book excursions at the hotel. The hotel atmosphere is chilled and suited to couples, solos and families, although party people might find it a bit subdued but you do have Paje is only 20 mins away if you want to venture out . Found this hotel great value for money, with friendly helpful staff and a big shoutout to Deborah from customer relations who goes above and beyond

Having visited lots and lots of different accommodations throughout the world, the Reef & Beach resort in Zanzibar is one to be remembered. The service was excellent; from housekeeping to guest relations. The whole resort was clean and full of surprises (in a good way!). I want to thank the staff for the experience.

We had a great time at the Reef and Beach resort in Jambiana, Zanzibar. We loved spending time at the pool, jetty bar and on the dock at the sea. We also loved swimming into the sea or walking on the beach when the tide was low. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially trainee Johnson. What a lovely guy. A well spoken English guy who was very helpful and friendly. I would really recommend a stay at this resort. It is pretty close to the town of Paje where you can find several restaurants and shops to buy souvenirs and paintings from local painters.

'Jambo' ,Just returned after an 8 night stay, and was extremely sad to leave. If you love monkeys you will be in heaven. I hoped to see them during my stay, but not several times each day, was brilliant,they seem to love showing off in front of the tourists, one day some even made it down to the jetty bar, they are amazing fun to watch. I had a garden room, which was huge, it was sprayed each evening by 'mosquito lady' and the mosquito nets surrounded the bed, however I didn't get bit once - and I always normally get bit. Main restaurant was very good, and there is also an Italian and Indian which you book for either lunch or dinner - and can be booked several times during your stay, if you visit the Indian go over to the balcony area to take a pic as its a brilliant view. If you love ocean swimming this place is a dream, the colour of the sea is just amazing - exactly like being in the Maldives. There is a tide, which changed considerably during my stay but for the first few days managed to get the early morning swim before breakfast in - sea was generally a hot 27'. Totally amazing. There are several sets of steps from the jetty bar to get into the sea - the best 2 being close to the jetty bar. There are also a few cats, and 3 tiny kittens which live near the Italian so anyone visiting please look out for them, I fed them everyday,,so hopefully someone will continue to look after them. Staff are all lovely here, and I have already booked to come back next year. It's about 60 to 90 minutes drive from the airport, and you do need to take out the Tanzanian Insurance, get a visa - which I had problems with online, but you get a form on the plane and do it at the airport when you arrive - 50$ cash, also there is a tourist tax. There are also 2 swimming pools within the complex, which were extremely warm. It was rainy season when I arrived, don't worry it rained a little the first few days but did always clear up and was always baking hot, but the last 3 days were wall to wall sunshine. Try to catch a sunset from the jetty bar - amazing . If you like 'rustic' you will love it here, I loved everything.
