The One Resort Zanzibar

The experience was amazing. The hotel has extraordinary scenery, with largest pool in Zanzibar and beautiful beach. We spent 9 days with a family of 7 people. It is a mid size hotel with great amenities and a splendid staff all here to smile and provide you an excellent experience. The food is high quality and chief keeps changing it everyday. They have good night shows. Special thanks to all staff members and specially to Amour and Mohamed for their continuous kindness and hospitality and Salim for his advices and making our son feeling so special for his 20’s birthday. We stayed at The One Resort in Makunduchi, in the quiet south-east of Zanzibar, and absolutely loved the peaceful vibe. It’s a bit remote (which we liked), so if you’re looking for a break from the crowds and want to truly unwind, this is a great pick. The setting is beautiful, lovely pool area with a swim-up bar, stylish and spacious rooms, and great food. Both the buffet and à la carte menus were excellent (I’d seen other reviews mention the food being top-notch, and they were right). The staff were friendly and attentive throughout, and the evening entertainment was varied and surprisingly good without being over-the-top. The only downside for me was the mattress, extremely firm, almost like sleeping on a board. Might be fine if you like that, but as a side sleeper I didn’t sleep great. Otherwise, the room was lovely and clean. The hotel can arrange tours, but we chose to explore on our own with a great local taxi driver. We swam with turtles, visited Paje, and went to The Rock restaurant, all easily doable with a bit of planning. If you’re after a chilled out place with good food, great service, and no big crowds, this place is a solid choice. Just be prepared for the remote location, and maybe ask about a mattress topper if you’re picky about beds!

Great place Great place, food was good, different things every day. Animation team had a very interesting program every night, daytime it could be more variation. Pool and pool area is great.

Phenomenal We spent 5 days of our honeymoon here and it was great! Staff was exceptional, every single one of them. It was the first time we had all inclusive and was a bit worried in terms of the food but we had nothing to worry about because it was so much variation and it was all good. Entertainment was great as well and the activities offered throughout the day. I say this with all respect, and that is that we feel like when a large resort like this is in a very local area, it should take responsibility for its surroundings. There is a lot of trash if you want to go for a walk, maybe a beach cleanup could be something you can start with and even include the guest. This makes you leave the resort feeling better if you feel like you support a business that cares about the area and not only the property ＜3
