So if there was one place in the world that I would rather be, it will forever be Soneva Fushi. From the charming, gentle and thoughtful staff, to the beautiful, authentic villas and lush surroundings, there is nowhere quite like it . The airport lounge gives a glimpse into what pleasures lie ahead, lovely nibbles, massage and compression leggings to ease the symptoms of a long flight. Our lovely barefoot guardian, Adonia, was super fantastic! We never felt awkward requesting anything ( which we have felt previously in other places) and she thought of everything before we even knew that was what we wanted! Truly, she made our time here amazing. The food here is sublime, great quality and created with great skill and thought. We loved the evenings where all the chefs had a cooking station and you could wander around, just picking what you fancy. Great for experimenting new flavours! We had a family Villa for 4 adults on the sunset side, so much space and we loved it…although the new Crusoe 2 beds tour left us breathless…. Next time! We really don’t mind the view of the local island, ( nor did the dolphins that pass by in the channel between!) but I can appreciate some won’t want that. The beautiful beach more than compensates, and we enjoyed the views of Out of the Blue and out of the Sea in the distance. Shout out to all the beautiful restaurants staff, I’m so bad with names, but they were all, without exception, outstanding! They remembered our names, what we liked etc, the spa staff, Josiah the Chinese doctor is highly recommended. I have a thing about lovely loos… and Fushi has beautiful toilets, all with a view!!! Check out was flawless and easy.. so sad to leave, but the consulation was a 2 night trip on Soneva in Aqua on the way to Jani…buts that’s another review for another day! Our stay at Soneva Fushi was nothing short of perfection, a true celebration of luxury, privacy, and sustainability. From the moment we arrived, we felt deeply cared for and utterly pampered, making our 2-night stay an unforgettable experience. We were privileged to stay in the 2-Bedroom Crusoe Residence (Villa 24), a spacious and beautifully designed villa offering over 300 sqm of space. Surrounded by tall frangipani, the villa ensured ultimate privacy, with our own secluded strip of pristine beach. Most of the time, it felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves—truly a magical experience. The villa also featured its own private pool, an outdoor shower, and a sunken bathtub, offering a luxurious and serene retreat that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of the island. Our host, Shan, deserves special recognition for his exceptional care and warmth. From the moment we met, we felt a personal connection, and his attention to detail made our stay even more special. As we celebrated our anniversary and my wife’s birthday during this trip, Shan surprised us with a beautiful message drawn in the sand—a heartfelt and touching gesture that we will treasure forever. Any guest would be lucky to have Shan as their host, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours. Out of the Blue was our go-to spot for refreshing cocktails while enjoying breathtaking sunsets over the Indian Ocean. Dining at Fresh in the Garden was an adventure in itself. The tree-top restaurant, accessible via a suspension bridge, offered a unique and thrilling approach. The food was exquisite, and the atmosphere unmatched. After dinner, we were thrilled to visit the island’s observatory, complete with its own telescope and an astronomer who was both knowledgeable and friendly, making stargazing a truly magical experience. Our journey to Soneva Fushi was as delightful as the stay. The 30-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport (MLE) to the resort offered mesmerizing views of coral reefs and lagoons. The experience began even before we arrived, with pampering at the Soneva lounge at the terminal, setting the tone for what was to come. We were greeted in our villa with a complimentary bottle of Leclerc Briant champagne, a thoughtful touch that perfectly aligned with the resort’s eco-friendly ethos. SONEVA is an amazing property, the island offers many activities, diving, all kind of water sports, finishing, aqua park for kids. From 1 to 9 bedrooms all luxury and calm. The best is the quality of the food and chefs, from a buffet to a fine dining everything is special Thanks to Shizu for the astronomy class, Jen, Rahima, the amazing Chelsea and the rest of SONEVA team for taking care of us

Soneva Fushi is special! We stopped in a sunrise overwater villa, & it was excellent... & HUGE The water slide is a lovely touch... But we used it twice in a week... However the study, bedroom, deck, pool & bathroom are all incredible spaces. The food is excellent (would strongly recommend Out of the Blue), & breakfast is always special. This is NOT a cheap island to book, but once you're there, prices are very comparable with most other Maldivian resorts. Service superb throughout. If you only get to go to the Maldives once - Then this is the one to pick.

I am absolutely appalled by the way this hotel handled our departure with several safety concerns throughout our journey. The seaplane from Manta Air was delayed and Soneva staff knowingly sent us away even though many of us repeatedly asked and voiced our concerns to the hotel staff, regarding how we could possibly make it before dark. The planes are only allowed to fly when there is visibility and yet they still send us away on the plane at dusk and after 7 minutes in the air, we had to do an emergency landing. When we landed back in the lagoon, the staff instead send us away on a speedboat to a commercial airport 15 minutes away with full speed -and at this point it was now dark out. We felt very unsafe and we were offered no lifejackets. We had several children on board. Very very concerning. The staff then put us all on a commercial plane to Mahle - also knowing full well that we would be stuck in the middle of the night there. The second we arrived the local airport staff from Manta Air told us we would not make the plane, and we would be rescheduled. This was also confirmed by the local Soneva staff on site as they had told the people rearranging the flights that it would not be possible to make the plane. They still send us away because they didn’t want to deal with putting us up at Soneva for an additional night and paying for our new tickets even though it was solely their responsibility that we didn’t make the plane. We had to purchase new tickets out of Mahle ourselves, which we do not know if the insurance covers and the hotel doesn’t seem to take this seriously at all. We are very very dissatisfied with the way the hotel has handled this whole situation and will also be pursuing this case legally at this point, as several safety breaches was made from Soneva’s side. We are a group of 14 people in total who had this experience and have paid several over a hundred thousand dollars at this hotel for the last couple of weeks. Suffice to say, we will not be taking this lightly.

I can t describe how much I love this island and how thankful I feel for such creative owners Sonu and Eva that made such wonderful experience possible. The jungle, the trees, the wildlife and the care for nature is unique and worthy of all my respect and admiration. Inspiring from every corner, the best quality meals and the loveliest staff. Miqdad our butler has been amazing, always attentive and made our experience even more perfect. Thank you Miqdad for being taking such good care of us, you were not not only efficient and super professional but also we could feel how much you love working in Soneva. Only a few things can be better, the rates (to be able to go more often), don t know if it s possible to trim top of high trees to have more sun in the beach, usually we were out of sun before 4 pm, didn't like the new passage from down o earth to the bar (although I understand is for rainy days), we wish chef Akira stays longer, also Hortensia (whom we love), we missed Dr Fabio and the personal trainer at the gym as well, better machines at the gym would be nice... and the most important thing, better policies with some dangerous very small insects inside the villa that we didn't see but caused some disturbances. We loved the new Gaucho place, amazing cooks there, we loved the chicken, and the ayurveda salmon cooked there. Thank you for such an amazing vacation Chef Ravi and the colombian chef with his amazing cachatra, Ahmed, Nile, Hassan from room service, Susan and Shirfan from HK, Charles the sommelier, Fahumi is the best , everybody at ouf of the Sea, our fav restaurant together with Gaucho grill and the amazing Abby at the spa and Dr Michelle. Please remind me not to fly shared seplane when it s too hot, it was not a good experience Thank you hope to be back soon!!!
