It was late. After a long flight from the US and a long drive down from AMS (we stopped a lot along the way), we were tired and hungry. We needed a place to stay for the night, hopefully outside of Antwerp somewhere and were worried everything was closing down on Sunday night. We found Hofke van Bazel online and made a reservation. As we passed closed restaurant after closed restaurant we began thinking a grocery store would be a great find. Low and behold, when we arrive at the hotel there is a Michelin star next to the door! Indeed, the restaurant was open and we not only had a fabulous room but also the most amazing dinner. Kris is an outstanding chef. I can't begin to describe all the flavors, so many succulent little dishes and an amazing sea bass as the main. This out-of-the-way hotel was such a surprise and one of the greatest eating experiences of our lives an out-of-the-blue gift. Thank you Gina, for being so hospitable, and Kris and the kitchen staff for so much attention to detail! We will always remember the Hofke van Bazel!
