Comfort Hotel Fosna

A basic Scandinavian hotel. The check-in was in a different building to the room was in, but this wasn’t a problem. However this building didn’t have a lift and had a narrow stairway to the top floor, so not ideal if you have a bit of luggage. Room was tiny, but modern enough and very clean. To be honest it was little more than a bed and a bathroom. The desk was a narrow breakfast bar so not good if you were wanting to work on your room, but I gather there are a variety of room choices and sizes. Breakfast was basic but good quality. Downside was that there was no thermostat in my room, and in the afternoon it was chilly. When the heating did come on, there was a lot of air in the radiator, so it was quite noisy. Add to the fact that it was a stormy night and the rubbish outside the neighbouring property rattled constantly, I didn’t get the best of sleeps, but the bed was comfortable. Good for a budget visit or an overnight stay. Location is also very good. Would be happy enough to return. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Avoid by all means when it’s a warm weather, the air ventilation system doesn’t work and their air condition is only panel heaters, so rooms are warm like sauna. When complained, was asked to open the half side window, which doesn’t do much except bringing in the street noise inside. So it’s a noisy sauna here. If you are looking for a good night sleep, then avoid this hotel.

The room was ok. The bed was not the comfiest. The bathroom was ok, but disappointed to find a Biltema blow dryer… Over to the worst part - the breakfast. Stale bread and the ham and cheese for bread was warm. No sunny side up eggs, which is quite standard at a hotel breakfast. The hotel is located right outside a night club, could be a good or bad thing.

Traveling with a colleague who booked via **********. Now, most hotels want you to book directly via their website, and the incentives should be accordingly. However, my friend is staying in the new section on the 6th floor with an Ocean view, while I am staying on the 3rd floor, in the older rooms, staring into a grey building. Tried to bring this up (with a smile) in reception and got told some people prefer these rooms bc of ‘larger bathrooms’. Well, that is hard to believe. This old room with no view at 2100 NOK is horrendous value.

In einem ziemlich kleinen Zimmer befindet sich das (mir zu weiche) Bett in der dunkelsten Ecke – das Bad wirkt beklemmend auf mich, so beengt ist es. Seltsamerweise sind die Preise für alkoholische Getränke im Zimmer tiefer als an der Bar. Das Nachtessen war sehr fein (Suppe, Lachs mit Gemüse + Kartoffeln, Dessert). Erstmals habe ich in einem Hotel genügend Kartoffeln erhalten.
