Ecotao Lodge

This is the most wonderful place to stay. A lovely welcoming and small eco resort. Made mainly from bamboo and lime mixed with coconut fibre the rooms are amazingly luxurious and large. The staff and the manager - Cami are lovely, as is the owner Yves. They cannot do enough to help. There is a lovely vibe to this place and the intimacy of the restaurant, bar and pool area encourages you to mingle. I will definately return.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Kao Tao Eco Lodge, and we must say that everything went smoothly and was perfect. What struck us at first sight was the lodge's eco-friendly design. It seamlessly blended into the natural environment, with locally sourced materials and an architecture that perfectly complemented the beautiful surrounding landscape. It was evident that great care had been taken to minimize the lodge's ecological footprint without compromising on comfort. The staff at Kao Tao Eco Lodge were warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The food was an absolute delight and the accommodations were very nicely furnished with stunning view of the surroundings. It was a haven of tranquility and serenity, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. A huge thank you to the owner Yves and his team for this wonderful experience. This hotel has stunning views and a FANTASTIC swimming pool. The staff is very friendly and speaks perfect English, which is very much appreciated. The breakfast buffet we had included was delicious, and we also had lunch and dinner there since the food is very fresh and tasty. Our cottage was AMAZING, fully equipped, and with spectacular views from our terrace. The cottages provide a lot of privacy, even on the terrace. Totally recommended!!! P.S. When we arrived, the staff recommended us some trips; we chose the snorkel trip and it was the best snorkel ever!!! ……………………………….. Este hotel tiene unas vistas increíbles sobre el mar desde la piscina. El personal es muy amable y habla inglés perfectamente. El desayuno buffet que teníamos incluido estaba delicioso, pero también comimos y cenamos en el hotel ya que la comida era espectacular. Nuestra cabaña no podía ser más bonita, totalmente equipada y con vistas espectaculares desde nuestra terraza. Mucha privacidad, incluso en la terraza. Totalmente recomendable!! P.D.: al hacer el check-in el personal nos recomendó varias excursiones, lo cual agradecimos mucho ya que no teníamos ningún plan; elegimos la excursión de snorkel y fue todo un acierto!!!!

It's a peaceful place. It is dazzling with its architecture in harmony with nature in the forest. You fall asleep to the sound of birds and wake up with the sound of birds. You feel yourself on the trees while swimming in the pool. The breakfast is very good and delicious. All employees are very helpful and friendly.

What a fantastic stay we had at Ecotao! Run by such warm, accomodating and friendly people. The rooms are lovely with great showers and ac. The view from the shower was overlooking the jungle with the sea behind, it amazed us every morning. Also the view at breakfast was excellent, as was the breakfast itself. We had a slight accident with our rented scooter and Khaw and Yves made sure we were as comfortable as possible, taking great care of us. A huge thankyou to the whole team, we hope to be back!

Highly recommend this beautiful, fantastic place. The lodges itself are well-build, solid places, with a great shower and great views. The bed is very good, and fresh water and coffee is refreshed on daily basis. So 5/5 for the bungalows and corresponding service. The location of the lodges is on the center of the island, a little higher up in the mountains. To be flexible, would definately advise to get a scooter. Roads are good and safe, can be a bit steep. But no real challenges whatsoever. We absolutely loved the (sea) views, and as Koh Tao is a small Island, everything is within a very short scooter drive. The staff was so nice! Great people, speak english, and are always available for questions and recommandations. They arranged a private snorkeling tour, which was great. And recommended the Garden restaurant, in which we had an amazing last evening on the island. Further, they have a nice pool, unlimited, tasty breakfast included and good room service. Summarized, we had an amazing stay at this place. Highly recommend. The one ‘con’ was that the restaurant service was not available after breakfast; however i think this was covid related. We were not really bothered. Enough good places nearby! Thanks very much Ecotao!

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel for 3 nights. It is a special place _ each room has a private deck overlooking the jungle where you can hear nature sounds day and night. The beds are wonderful and the shower had a beautiful window looking out into the wild. The owner and staff were incredibly helpful and organized a scooter to be delivered and picked up from the hotel. Breakfast is special - Thai and European and American choices, all offered by the infinity pool. We loved returning from a long day out and relaxing in the pool and talking to other guests. The hotel is only 5-10 minute scooter ride into town. We stayed in 2 hotels in Koh Tao - 1 in town near sairee beach and then also at ecotao. We loved the juxtaposition of the 2. We are already discussing our return trip hopefully for next year. Another tip- try the chicken sandwich at Da’s Sandwiches near the pier - the best schnitzel ever! Amazing attention to detail went into building this special hotel oasis designed to be sustainable and eco-friendly and the result is superb.

I had booked two nights at EcoTao Lodge but upon my arrival I immediately knew I had to stay longer and extended my stay with 3 additional nights. The location is amazing, it feels like you are in the jungle but still you are only a short drive away from the centre of the island. There is an infinity pool overlooking the jungle, absolutely amazing views. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, they really do everything they can to ensure you are comfortable and have everything you need. They will also help you with renting the scooter, booking snorkling trips, cooking classes etc. The room was perfect and had everything I needed and the bed was so comfortable. If you are considering booking a room at Ecotao, do not hesitate, you will not regret it! Thank you again for making my stay at your hotel so perfect, I cannot wait to come back!
