A Ritz Carlton resort not living up to the expected standard. Very friendly staff, but many of them lacked the competence expected in Ritz Carlton. Several mistakes related to bookings, very limited insight on wine, forgot food orders etc. We experienced even one worker starting to cry as the person was put into a new working position with no training and did not feel comfortable. Hope no punishment of the worker… Special thanks to Martin from Sweden being a concierge trainee. Chairs, sun beds and even floor at the pool is based on plastic. Not very classy. The hotel also showed quite some wear and uncleanliness, ref examples, not suiting a 5-star hotel. The beach at the hotel is nice above sea level only. The pool is good and the spa is great. 2 out of 5 in our family got food poisoned as did 2 out of 4 of our friends. Been in Thailand several times but never had such experience. Not sure if it is related to the hotel, but we think so. Ok follow up by management, but no compensation offered. All this said, we had a nice vacation. At a Kempinski hotel now. Plays in a different league
