Simple, rustic accommodation which has everything you need… kettle, tea and coffee, fridge, even a hair dryer. Comfortable beds, rooms serviced every second day. Good towels and all bedding are provided. The restaurant is beachside, serving a menu of 10 Thai and half a dozen western dishes. All freshly made and delicious. The staff? Wow. Warm, friendly. You’re one of the family. They worked hard to keep the grounds tidy. The beach is beautiful, the water calm and clear. There’s a 7-11 a minute or two up the road, and a scattering of restaurants as well, but honestly I doubt you’ll need to leave to eat there! You have a choice of air conditioned or fan cooled huts. I’d wholly recommend the ones with AC. And there are three direct beachfront huts, which are often booked out. Thai domestic carriers such as Nok Air used to sell through tickets from Bangkok to Koh Phagnan, with a flight to Surat Thani, a bus transfer to the ferry, and a ferry (via Koh Samui). These don’t seem to be offered anymore, but getting to Koh Phagnan is easy with Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui, then look for the tour desk immediately after baggage claim. They’ll sell you a transfer to the ferry, and ferry ticket for 450 baht (combined). There’s a ferry at 930am, so recommend to take the 7am from Bangkok. It’s all very easy and well organised. On the ferry they’ll offer a transfer to anywhere on the island for 150 baht. While that’s in the high side for such a short transfer to the resort, the asking price once you arrive from the taxi people is 200. The resort is at the other end of the island from the full moon parties, so it’s super quiet, and super relaxing. Watch out for the resident cat, who does her rounds every morning and afternoon visiting the front porch of each hut. If you want somewhere to get away from it all and reconnect with your inner Robinson Caruso… this is your place.
