Hotel Alpina

This review is of the restaurant only and was our first visit since the change of hotel ownership. Previously we have had drinks and dined at the hotel on many occasions. On our return we were accompanied by six friends. We were all disappointed, not so much by the food which was good, but by the service, atmosphere and very high prices. We needed to ask for snacks to accompany our pre-dinner drinks, ask for bread with our hors d’oeuvres, pour the wine and water throughout the dinner and clear our own glasses and plates. The waiters looked unhappy, did not smile and we had the impression our presence was an inconvenience. On previous occasions we have enjoyed the ambiance of pre-drinks in the reception bar and a truly memorable meal with warm and welcoming staff; this year the whole expensive experience fell way below expectation. We will not be visiting the Alpina again until they get their act together.

The location is ten out of ten. Opposite the ski lift in the amazing klosters. Rooms are clean and nicely renovated. Make sure you are in the main building ! Otherwise you need to walk in long cold corridors. Music is lovely on a daily basis and the singer/ dj makes sure everyone is happy and serviced. However, during breakfast the service is bad and under staff. Sometimes in the spa there are no towels. Esther the receptionist tries hard but her colleague seem to enjoy not being service oriented while being very correct. The top is; YOU CAN'T BILL THE ROOM FOR DRINKS AND FOOD. you must have your cc on you all the time. And when you ask why the answer is: we didn't figure out how to do it.... Strange! Com on seven Alpina is 2024. Get your act together... All in all I think the new management will improve. I will be happy to come back.

We love the hotel Alpina and the staff. We have stayed 4+ times in different charming rooms. The welcome and familiarity are winning. While our room is a bit tired, we heard they are updating it. The breakfast is amazing- the chef makes specials for the kids at times, the restaurant is the only Michelin rated (and for a reason) and the bartenders on it. The pool and spa are welcome after a day skiing The location and views can not be near.

Returning to Alpina for the tenth year, since two years also in summer. Perfect location with nice appartments, solid restaurant (menu appears to have been the same for ten years), very hospitable staff and some of the best mountains in the Alps at your doorstep. The old queen may to be the freshest, hippest or most modern and that makes her perfect. No youthful apearances and exuberance, but all the charm and character. Let's hope that Alpina will retain it's charm and character after the planned renovation / overhaul this summer.

A fantastic first visit to Klosters. The hotel staff were warm and very welcoming. Location is perfect ...close to town centre, train station and gondola. Good restaurant, bar and room. Would definitely recommend. Excellent.
