Kirkby Stephen Hostel

Stayed here for one night after hiking. A great location in the centre of Kirkby. Facilities were good and the place was welcoming. It used to be a church so it was an interesting place to stay and the common room was in the main church building. I would stay again

Can’t praise more for this unique hostel. Originally I booked in May, but before my trip I had been in hospital with an injury, which meant I couldn’t go. But Denise kept my booking until later when I was fit enough to travel for some hiking around the area. Not many places would do that. I had an enjoyable stay and it’s got everything to cater for your needs. Superb hostel all round. 11 out of 10!

The hostel provided a really warm welcome . Clean tidy and is well served by very friendly staff. Great value interesting building great location in the town. Good recommendations for local eateries and other shopping needs and places to visit.

Fabulous bunkhouse on famous Coast to Coast walk. Clean. Warm. Comfortable and a fabulous breakfast!! I was the only one in the male bunkhouse, but nice shower, and a very comfortable nights sleep. I was also in no rush in the morning and was allowed to just sit comfortably until it was time to leave. Highly recommended

We booked the hostel through *********** as a 4-person shared room with en-suite facilities. The arrangements for getting in were good without any issues, however, when we arrived the rooms en suite were partially complete. The bathroom floor appeared to have the floor covering removed with the remanence of the contact adhesive still on the wooden floor. The shower was without a shower curtain and the area was without a door so that the en-suite could not be used while other party members were present. I contacted the Hostel to politely ask if there could be a reduction in the fees as it was advertised as an en-suite when it obviously cannot be used. I didn’t receive any response so took this up with *********** who replied saying that the hostel would not review the cost as they feel that it was an appropriate amount for 1 night (£170.00). Sadly, we will not use the hostel again, but we advise any bookers to check that the rooms are as advertised and not amid refurbishment.

Legendary friendliest service that the north is famous for is on show here in bundles! From being greeted until the time we left we were looked after and treated as if we were in a 5 star hotel. Denise, the owner, could not have done more to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I can recommend this place enough. Thanks for all you did Denise.
