The Old Bank Town House

Mix up with our 2 night booking in “beautiful double room with sea view” which turned out to be a pokey room at the top of the house, with tiny double bed, overlooking the Main Street alas. After some discussion we were moved for 1 night to a larger room with king bed & refunded for the 2nd night. Even the larger room wasn’t too clean & the bedside table drawers contained items left by previous occupants. All in all a very disappointing experience especially as it was our wedding anniversary! The staff in the cafe however were delightful which saved what would otherwise have been a bad memory.

Second visit and even better than our first - greeted by Jude at reception like I was a long lost friend! She upgraded us to a suite which is full of old world charm. Staff in Old Bank are great - warm, welcoming and friendly - great breakfast as well

We had an two night stay in in the Old Bank House in Kinsale and really had a great time. The staff went out of their way to help us out and many thanks to Julio in housekeeping for going out of his way to accommodate our many demands. Big bright room at the top of the house overlooking the harbour - great breakfast in the cafe down stairs and probably the best coffee in Kinsale

We refused to stay in the first room they gave us . Small and grubby ! we had been told by email we were being given a beautiful large room with a sea view They apologised and gave us a different room . Large and grubby Torn wallpaper stained and sad. Avoid.

Went and stayed with friends. The Old Bank Townhouse were welcoming, very accommodating. Would stay there again. The room was clean and comfortable. My stay was top notch! Thank you again for the hospitality. Oh.... and the breakfast was good too.

Conveniently located in the heart of Kinsale. Close to the harbor and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Room was worn with stained carpet, old furnishings and an outdated bathroom. Our room facing the Main Street was loud, waking us at 630am.

The room (17) was absolutely beautiful, really quite lovely with big old but quality furniture, a MASSIVE bed, a lovely double aspect corner view and a HUGE bathroom. Nespresso machine, and 2 lovely little chocolates from RARE which is their sister property restaurant. Location was just fabulous. The water pressure in the bathroom was great, and all the little touches were lovely. Loads of towels, and even a Dyson Hairdryer and fan should you wish to use! We are so used to modern hotels that this was a real treat to have something so plush but traditional! Staffing was a little bit disorganised, there was an issue with the sheets being delivered, so our room wasn't ready until well after 4pm and we had no sheets on the bed at this point. They were on by the time we returned from our night out though. (We also got worried we hadn't got a key for the front door at 1am, but a big shove of the door got us in!) Just to note too it was rather confusing because our room confirmation emails came from Blue Haven Hotel, which is where we had booked dinner, unknowing that it was the sister property, so I was a bit panicked that I'd accidentally booked a room instead of a dinner reservation at the sister hotel. NOTE - not the hotel's fault but Parking is a bit of a painful experience in Kinsale but in the end we parked somewhere else, and then moved after 2 hours to just outside the hotel and paid for another 2 hours which saw us to the evening 'free' time until 10am the next morning.

This hotel tries very hard to pass itself off as a five star hotel—but it barely reaches three stars. If I’m generous. Bed was awful, no real services, creaky old house that’s seen far better days. If it had billed itself as an old two-three star townhouse in a great location, I’d have been fine. But it uses words like “luxury” “boutique” and “five star”. It’s nothing of the sort and is clearly just riding off its halcyon days of yore. If you go, keep your expectations in check. And bring muscle rub for the morning. You’ll wake up sore from the bed.

Went to check in at 4:15 (check in time was after 4) and told that the room wasn't ready but would be made up immediately, so took a walk around the town. Went back at 5:15, told the room was now ready. It hadn't been touched. No one seemed to be in charge. Went to the pub and finally had a made up room when we returned at 6:30. Also the front doon needs attention. Arrived back after dinner and couldn't get in. Their sister hotel is up the road so had to go there to find someone to assist getting in. Needed to pretty much shoulder charge the door to get in. Not great considering what they charge.
