The Whittington and Cat

I booked 2 rooms for ourselves and friends to see the War of the Worlds at Hull. The location was fantastic - just across the road and a 10 minute walk to Hulls old town. The facilities were outstanding. I have very rarely come across a property where you could genuinely say it was possible to eat off the floor but this property did it. After check in we met up with our friends and the first thing we said to each other was 'you could eat off any surface'. The whole place was pristine. The second thing we said was the beds were so comfy. Next -the staff. They were top notch, friendly, professional and willing to go the extra mile for the guests. When we arrived back after the show we had a couple of drinks in the bar and were made very welcome despite the late hour. We booked a table for lunch the following day and were allowed to stay in our rooms till the pub opened for lunch ( this was really convenient for us as my partner is disabled and was feeling shattered after the concert). The food was loverly, freshly cooked, tasty and very good value - we got the last table for 12.00 noon and all time slots were booked up after that. The Whittington and Cat will now be our goto accommodation when staying in Hull. Highly recommended.

Got there early and checked in straight away, room was beautiful, abundance of complimentary toiletries and coffee etc, very clean, and bed really comfortable, nice view of marina, and could see connexin live from our window. Had some nice drinks in the bar while watching rugby, staff were really nice and welcoming, even the locals were nice and gave advice on where to go, we had some beautiful food, chilli burger n classic burger, very nice, compliments to the chef, the bar lady was really lovely and friendly. The hotel is ideally located for the connexin and town centre, just a short walk over the bridge, would absolutely stay here again, parking was spot on, camera straight on our car and could stay parked until midnight on our check out day. The hotel was easy to find even with road works and my husbands lack of direction lol, I would give this place 11/10, top notch xxx

Great room with 4 poster bed, very clean and nice and warn for a cold December day. Staff very polite and the prices of the drinks in the bar, great value for money. Good location overlooking the marina. Parking available (free). Met the owners, very nice hospitable people. Met some of the regulars on our return from a meal, had a real good old sing song. Lovely night all round. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

Friendly welcoming staff in a traditional pub hotel, the bar was busy with friendly customers. The accommodation was at the top up 2 flights of stairs and well worth it, great space, well decorated and airy, views out onto the marina - excellent. Big comfy extra large bed in separate bedroom with a small but perfectly functional en-suite and a large free standing bath in the bedroom. I can’t think of anything negative to say at all. The parking if free in a retail park 50 yards from the front door, we arrived early and the security staff on site added our car to the free system which was good too. Short walk across a bridge into Hull old town loads of history, bars and restaurants and more trendy bars next to the marina. The food in the hotel was reasonably priced and very tasty, served quickly - we tried to eat there a 2nd but were too late - our bad! A great relaxing weekend break - thanks

What a great find. The staff are so friendly. The room was large and had everything we needed. Even though we were close to the road we didn't hear the traffic in the morning. The price was really reasonable too. We will definitely return. Thank you

Lovely clean room, excellent food and friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Shame we were woken in the Emerald Room by the TV next door in the Cabin Room at 05:45am. Either the walls are very thin or the occupant was very hard of hearing or both. Knocked on the door to ask them to turn it down but no response as the TV was too loud.
