Premier Inn Newton Abbot

I’ve stayed in many Premier Inns over the years, they were always clean, competitive and offered a good breakfast. After staying at the Premier Inn Newton Abbot, those days are clearly over and this will be my last stay. On arrival, was directed to reception by staff outside, went into reception to find it empty. The one directing me was the receptionist, yet didnt follow me straight in but kept his conversation going with colleagues. Then the hotel just wasnt clean, the room, bathroom and the corridors. The curtain was hanging down, broken away from the curtain track and wouldnt close properly. They clearly hadnt hoovered under the bed either. There was dirt between the toilet seat and lid, again not cleaned. The matress also wasnt the best, dipped on the one side. Made sleep uncomfortable. Booked the hotel Feb 2nd. Told a few days before out June stay that the restaurant had restricted menus due to refurb. Told so late they removed my choice to go elsewhere. Dusgusting, Id booked 2 rooms. One was for my son and his partner the other for me and my wife. 20th June was a hot day, our room was very hot, i had the air con on but just thought it feeble. After a couple of hours my son had knocked as we were going to dinner, he asked why we didnt have the air con on. His room was very cold. I spoke to reception who told me it will be fine now theyd change it to cool as my setting on their system was go warm!!! Hottest day if the year lets set the system to heat! Madness, took quite a while to cool the room

Bed great but that’s where it ended room smelt of old hoover bags on arrival then window sealed shut thought that was illegal poor WiFi limited tea coffee no biscuits the bathroom on the surface clean but very tired mould in grout and on ceiling not a pleasant stay person above really noisy sound proof very bad and doors slamming at all hours right up to 3:30 am very sleep had considering and not helpful when having to drive 5 hours to return home would not use again grubby and grub needs a complete overhaul nothing like they show on the adverts

Good hotel and obviously perfect location for the racecourse and easy walk in to town after, and taxi back ;). Staff were good and rooms to standard as always. Will book to stay again and recommend. Plenty of parking but on site restaurant. ………

Stayed for 2 nights in a family room when in Newton Abbott for a family wedding. Room was spacious and beds comfy. Liked the fact the kids got their own beds as opposed to sharing a double. Tea and coffee making in the room. Bathroom a little tired but clean and fully functional. The grounds around the hotel are a little tired and need some TLC in order to improve the curb appeal of the place. Wouldn't take much! Didn't have breakfast there but other family members weren't impressed so got a refund. The Orsino Lounge in Newton Abbott does great breakfasts as an alternative option.

As a regular user of PremierInn we are used to better. We booked a Prem+ room which was as normal until we saw the bathroom, the grouting was covered in mould and grime, not pleasant at all. The staff were friendly enough. The restaurant however was a different matter, we booked the meal deal as we normally do and were shocked, there was a limited menu we ordered fish & chips & were told there no chips, we ordered a alternative but waited over an for this to be served. As for breakfast next day there was hardly any food in the continental display and the hot food looked unappealing. We had breakfast next in Tescos across the road. The worst experience in PremierInn. Have also submitted review to PremierInn, so disappointed.

Visited with my adult son for a 6-day break in fine sunny weather. We opted to room-share because the prevailing rate was around £100 except for Sundays - expensive for a small room, no-frills, but you take it or leave it. One standard double-bed plus a made-up sofa bed. We booked late, so expected the high rate. "No frills" means only one chair and no portable fan as found in some Premiers. Hot and stuffy at times, but the aircon eventually responds. Easy to find on Newton Road, Kingsteignton (postal address). Ample free parking, some of it undercover at ground level with the building above. A single lift takes you up to Reception and rooms on all floors. A mega large Tesco is opposite, over the main road - traffic lights for crossing on foot. Location is good for touring Devon by car, but all but one of our outings were by bus or train. Bus Stops are close by. Bus service 2 was every 20 minutes, good for a ride to downtown or in the opposite direction to Teignmouth (journey 40 minutes) and Dawlish (for the South West Cost Path). You will want to go downtown or to Teignmouth because the hotel's restaurant (believed to be a Beefeater - an associated Whitbread company) - looked deserted or nearly empty whenever we walked past the separate building. However a full overflowing litter bin outside (not cleared daily, it seemed) was a clue to there having been some trade. The ramped paths in front of the restaurant down to the road were half overgrown by shrubs, and there was a fallen light. I don't mind uncut lawn (good for nature) but in my experience the scruffiness of some Premier sites which I have visited is an issue for Whitbread managers to address. Five-star rating in this Review because of weighting given to good location, easy free parking, ease of booking, satisfactory clean room (as it should be), reliable free wi-fi and the Premier team members. I don't normally mention names but hearty thanks to Lauren who reunited me with my precious high-speed Apple charger which I left behind, (a clue to your Reviewer's advancing age).
