Castle Lodge

The Castle Lodge is the perfect place to stay for a visit to Killarney and surrounds. It is within easy walking distance of Killarney town centre and only 5 minutes from the Killarney Avenue Hotel, a superb venue for drinks and dining. It is also a great base for visiting all the wonderful sites and points of interest in County Kerry. The property itself is very well appointed, our room had ample space, very comfortable beds and a great bathroom. The breakfasts were excellent and served in a beautiful little dining room. The Lodge also has an outdoor area for relaxing in the good weather and an expansive off-street carpark.

Excellent location to town centre with free car parking with is most convenient in Killarney. Accommodation was quaint and nicely decorated but unfortunately room was on the small size and only accommodated a double bed. Being an older building there was no lift to 2nd floor accommodation and we had to lug heavy suitcases up narrow stairs. Would consider staying again due to the location and friendly staff.

The best part of Castle Lodge was it's location: to the center of town (walkable), Ring of Kerry, Ross Castle, Killarney National Park, Muckross Abbey, Dingle Peninsula and Cork. While Castle Lodge provided ample parking, a quiet location and tasty breakfast, the guest room was in dire need of some TLC. Wall paper was peeling and ripped, the carpet needed cleaning and mold was in the shower area. All things that are easily fixed. Staff were friendly and efficient. I would stay here again.

2 rooms/4 people 11 May before High season. Paid €266.00 1 night stay. Rooms were clean, comfortable, location is great. Staff lovely. Had breakfast to find out it was NOT included. Ordered not even a full Irish and was charged €15.00 each, an extra €60.00 on top of €266.00 !! What a rotten way to end a nice visit and typical way to treat the Irish with family in visiting!! Rip off Ireland is VERY much alive. This took away all the goodness and I will tell all who will listen and please don't delete my review.

Spacious room with comfortable beds, although a bit outdated. Our room looked out to an inner yard with emergency stairs, no garden or the like. Bathroom was modern, with a big shower. But it was complicated to operate it - you could unexpectedly turn on the rain shower with cold water! Quiet location very close to the city center and train station. Breakfast was exceptional - only hotel where we could have a hot chocolate! However, on our last day we had a breakfast-to-go that looked good until everything got wet from the juice because the container was broken and we didn't realize it until we got on the train (luckily we had put the cardboard bag into a plastic bag).

We stayed in apartment 2 which is up stairs in the main hotel. On a positive the apartment is spacious, was clean and nicely decorated. However it was exceedingly noisy as all the windows open onto the main road right by a major junction, a garage and an off licence. We were there in the middle of a heatwave and there is no air con (a fan was provided on request) so opening the windows was the only way to cool the room down. When we booked the website said there was a washing machine and dishwasher, there aren't - although the receptionist did do a load of washing for us for free. Also the sheets are polycotton which is pretty unpleasant in a heatwave.
