The Lakeside Hotel & Leisure Centre

Beautiful hotel,great food and great location. Ideal family room with great space and great pool, kids love it.

So so disapointed This is about my 5th visit to lakeside hotel and couldn’t believe how far it has deteriorated. Paid 182 euro for one night which is quite expensive for a night in January. Room was freezing cold, jacuzzi not working and customer service, Particularly duty manager, appalling. Not even the basic TV channels available. Will not be returning

The room exceeded my expectation in terms of location of hotel, The view from the window was breathtaking, and the temperature control worked perfectly

Hotel was amazing, stayed in the waterfront. It was so beautiful. Staff were so friendly & obliging. Hotel food was excellent.

Great location on the waterside. Our room was very nice. Spacious and with a nice writing desk area. A wander around the gardens revealed some interesting tree carvings / wooden sculptures in the grounds and a walkway down to the waterside where small boats can be moored. There are interesting historical bits and pieces to see and read displayed around the hotel. Maureen O’Hara and her husband Captain Charles Blair of flying boat fame used to stay in the hotel and are remembered in the name of the Maureen O’Hara bar and a collection of photographs in the bar and dining room. The twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina either side of the Shannon River at Lough Derg are just a couple hundred metres walk from the hotel with nice pubs to enjoy. Killaloe is in County Clare and Ballina in County Tipperary. We enjoyed walking across the old bridge to Ballina and just wandering around the streets. A historic information poster reminded us that Killaloo was the birthplace of Brian Boru. Killaloe was considered the capital of Ireland while Brian Boru was High King in the early 11th century and he lived in Killaloe. Breakfast was excellent with vegetarian and gluten free menus to choose from. Food was cooked quickly and really nice. A highlight for me was the waterslide in the hotel pool. The pool attendant was really encouraging of my giving it a go. My first slide down was holding the sides of the slide all the way down inch by inch and the pool attendant wondering if I was never going to emerge again. I climbed the steps again and again and progressed quickly through less touching of the slide sides to whooshing down. I really enjoyed it - 16 times. 😀. I went back the next morning before breakfast for 10 more slides to consolidate my progress. 😂😇 We hope to return to the Lakeside Hotel again next summer and take a boat trip and visit more of the local and wider area which is rich in history and beautiful scenery and maybe do some fishing.

Amazing comfortable stay. Staff superb, food sumptuous, room fantastic just what we needed. Can't recommend enough. Beautiful. Perfect relaxing break celebrating a special anniversary were made to feel so special throughout our stay with wonderful treats as a surprise on arrival. Will definitely be returning. Thanks to all.
