Checked in,as soon as we get to our room which is room 302 it was open with dirty towel used as a door stopper and dirty linens on the hallway, we told the reception about it and the receptionist told us they will removed it immediately but when we returned to our room it's still there and they removed it the next day,strange practice of handing the key each time you leave the hotel without verifying your identity when requesting the return of the key.Poor ventilation ,windows are dirty one window won't open,won't recommend.

I only stayed for the night and had a good night's sleep. The room was cosy with a large, comfy bed. The only minor issue was that the shower wasn't quite warm enough, but not cold. Breakfast was delicious, but rather than having a hot buffet selection, they brought out the hot food to order, which I preferred as it tasted freshly cooked and warm. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, and were welcomed by a lovely lady on reception, and the location was ideal, being in the town. There's no on-site parking, but we parked nearby in the cricket club car park that was only £2 overnight.

Recently stayed for two nights, the cleanliness was very poor. Crisps were on the floor next to our bed, room hadn’t been hoovered, thick with dust, horrible stains all over tissues/box, dirty bed sheets. We told the hotel manager the next morning who said he would get this sorted for us. While out cleaners had been in, made the bed replaced towels, crisps still on the floor still seen no hoover. Told the girl on reception who said she would hoover it herself and offered us a bottle of wine as an apology. When we returned from being out, the crisps had been hoovered but not bothered to hoover the rest of the room at all. The only thing I can say is the staff are very friendly and area is lovely but wouldn’t return due to how unclean it was and things were still not rectified. For £214 for two nights it really wasn’t worth what we got for our “mini honeymoon”, disappointed.

First impressions not good dirty windows etc the communal areas were all very dated but were clean and tidy though. Our room was again clean and tidy but dated again . With very old metal type windows the one in the bathroom was moldy in places as pictured . At 6.40 am we were awoken by the large kitchen extractor fan which was outside are window making it impossible to sleep. The breakfast was ok but not great the hash browns were very overcooked and bacon was almost all fat making both inedible. On a positive note note note the staff were all friendly and approachable

Staff were friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the full English breakfast cooked to my liking with choice of fried or poached egg. The room I had was lovely and clean with calming colours and big cosy bed. Slightly too warm for my liking (but I could open a window) and the water was too hot when using the shower. Decor was beautiful throughout the hotel.

Even though the bar staff (I believe her name was keira)was lovely had to feel sorry for her as she seemed to be running the whole hotel running from the bar to reception as receptionist (I believe her name to be ella) never seemed to be around. Checking people into their room and guiding people to where the "car park" is located as well as having a smile on her face. Go you girl wishing I had that work effort

A lovely hotel. We stayed for almost a week. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The food was exceptional. A special note to the waitresses who were very attentive. We had no issues only one small thing and that was probably our own fault. We couldn't regulate the temperature in the shower. It was boiling and we couldn't turn it down. However I'm sure if we had mentioned this to the staff something would have been done.. An over all good experience. Note too the hotel is right beside the train station and only a few minutes walk from the bus station, so very convenient especially as we didn't bring a car with us.

Spent one night at the County Hotel or Lakeland Kendal hotel to attend a gig at The Brewery Arts and Cinema Centre. Room was very small (108) clean and comfortable, positioning of the toilet roll holder could prove a task if your on the larger size (really close to the toilet) There was little noise, actually it was relatively quiet even though it overlooked a main road facing the train station. There’s no on-site parking but a few minutes walk away you can park at the cricket club for £2 per day/overnight. Staff were lovely very welcoming and work so hard, they’re a credit to the hotel. Breakfast buffet ok, what we liked was having our full english cooked to our, not something that happens often in chain hotels. Would recommend for a short stay.
