We stayed at both Wailua Bay 205 (WB205) and Kapa'a Sands 18 (KS18) within the same week as we were relocated due to issues at Kapa'a Sands which were beyond anyone's control and not immediately solvable. Vacasa looked after us as well as they good in the circumstances. WB205 is about 2.5x larger than KS18, having a separate bedroom and a large living area with a sofa bed. The lanai at WB205 is a good size and has 2 loungers plus a table and chairs to enjoy the view fom 2 floors up. Unfortunately the view from the loungers is somewhat interrupted by the wooden bars of the lanai barrier. What is also not very clear from the condo website photos is the highway that runs parallel to the beach and has constant traffic running along it with the accompanying constant rumble of trucks and cars which cannot be escaped. The lanai at KS18 opens directly onto the grass with a smaller ocean view and no loungers. The Kauai roosters can be very loud when crowing at the edge of the lanai, approximately 10-12ft (3-4m) from your bed, and they start early!! I would take this over the constant traffic though. From KS18 you are a very short walk across the grass and down a a step pathway onto an amazing beach. We were not able to get into the ocean much as the waves and currents were too strong to be safe (Jan 2024) but there is an area that is protected by a long rock formation (this seems to be quite common on the Kauai beaches) where the water stays up to about 2ft deep (or more) and many reef fish can be seen along with other sea creatures. Access to the beach from WB205 involves going the 2 flights of stairs (no elevator) to the buildings ground level, then an additional 39 stairs to the street, a short walk along the road and then on to the beach. Having limited energy this was not an ideal scenario for me. The interior of KS18 is very tired (I have described it as shabby) however it was very clean. Unfortunately, the worn out interior does not give this impression of first entry. WB205 is more updated. Both condos had great kingsize beds and pillows, I had my best sleeps for a long time at KS18 (despite the roosters and other temporary noises, the units were all being pressure washed during our stay). Sleeping at WB205 was marred by the thrumming of the ceiling fan coming from the unit below. I found this disturbing enough to try sleeping on the sofa bed. However the mattress is very this on this and the bed frame can easily be felt through it making the irritating fan noise the better option (with ear plugs) Despite is smaller size and tired interior, we enjoyed our stay at KS18 more than WB205. We preferred to access to the beach and the lack of traffic noise. I should clarify that KS18 was not devoid of road noise but at a far more acceptable level than WB205. If those things are not of concern for you then WB205 offers a somewhat more comfortable living accommodation. I did enjoy listening to the ocean at night from KS18 which was not the case with WB2
