Bamboo House Resort

This is an absolute gem of a place right on the River Kwai. Could not fault the service the place the location. All absolute 💯.

I booked a raft house for one night through Trip.com, but upon arrival this wasn’t available. However, this was handled incredibly well. We were fully refunded and offered a bamboo hut instead, which suited us perfectly. The lady who welcomed us was genuinely kind, extremely apologetic, and made sure we were comfortable straight away. Her hospitality really stood out. Our first night in the bamboo hut was lovely. It was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly cosy. The bed was comfortable, the room was spotless, and the surroundings were calm and peaceful. The garden setting is beautiful, and having our own little veranda with floor cushions made it feel very special — a perfect place to sit, relax, and enjoy the tranquillity. We were then offered the chance to stay in a raft house for the second night at a very good price, which we happily accepted — and it was absolutely worth it. For the money, this stay was truly out of this world. The raft house was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent, and the air conditioning meant we could set the room to the perfect temperature. The highlight was the sliding doors opening onto a private veranda directly over the River Kwai. The views are stunning, with the famous bridge around 300 metres away. In the evening, when the bridge and nearby restaurants are lit up, the atmosphere is magical. You can enjoy both sunrise and sunset from here, accompanied by birdsong — peaceful, relaxing, and incredibly scenic. Breakfast was included and offered great value: a good selection of help-yourself drinks, toast, and fruit, plus a freshly prepared plate of rice, sausages, salad, and a fried egg, with the option of an omelette if preferred. Overall, this place offers exceptional value for money. Between the picturesque river views, the beautifully kept garden surroundings, the calm and relaxed environment, and the attentive host who speaks excellent English, we felt genuinely well looked after throughout our stay. A wonderful experience and somewhere I would happily return to.
