We have a very small pet. Being given a pet room in an old worn out motel/hotel, we weren’t expecting much, but upon opening the door and the smell that stench odour that me us was down right disgusting. We felt trapped. We dropped in air fridge items and left for the intended task in Kamloops. Upon our return, again entering the room, the smell was unbearable. As one who is sensitive to scents, it was overwhelming for me and I lost my voice. It was so chemically filled and pungent that within seconds I lost my voice. In total disgust, I walked to the front desk. I explained my situation. The person behind the counter did not appear to care about my issue. It was a dog room and that all he could give me. I explained that the $191.00 room was not suitable and I again requested we be moved to a room with no scents. Eventually, he did allow our move, but the second room wasn’t a whole lot better. We took in the room only the essentials needed to get through the night, and admit that neither of us slept due to the smell, and disgustingly poor room condition, with old filthy carpet, black mold in the bathroom, and a spider crawling up the wall. At 5:40 a.m., we both agreed to get the heck out of the nightmare. Our puppy too was restless all night. We both couldn’t use our CPAP machines as we didn’t want the stench to permeate our breathing tubes. That was a first time without it at night in 15 years. Because it’s a life or death support for me, there was no way I would sleep without it in fear of stopping breathing and nothing to support it. I am truly disappointed in the Kamloops business licensing department for licensing a dilapidated, mold, stench infested motel/hotel. I would have not signed any permit without their tearing it down and rebuilding. My tip, do not stop, nor stay at this location. I feel pretty confident that if two rooms in the same block of rooms were consumed in a stench smell, all would be the same. If a zero rating were available. It would have been used.
