Be very cautious here. This hotel is ripe for theft. Happens frequently. It’s well known amongst Juneau’s homeless community as an easy mark. You are distracted checking in during a surge, or only there to catch an early flight with others. So with all these bags sitting around, it’s your luggage that gets stolen from the lobby. Cops can be called, but there’s not much time to investigate. You want to make the early flight, or cruise ship, not find your stuff. The homeless (seen on security camera) know this, as does night shift front desk, who couldn’t care less, perhaps even ‘buzzed’ the thief into the lobby from outside. Two stars for the Assistant Manager who provided a clean t-shirt for the flight home. Very sympathetic. What a way to end a vacation in Alaska. At least some unfortunate person is now walking around in more comfort sporting my goretex gear, $400 boots, and a few bucks from hawking souvenirs. Thankfully I’m insured and now experiencing the joy of post trip bureaucracy.
