Julian Lodge

Absolutely awful and something I have never experienced prior. The Julian lodge decided to move our booking to a hotel 3 miles away and considerably lower category place without even informing us. When I called them the person at the reception had no clue. We got to know because the property where they moved us messaged to confirm. All of this on the morning of our checkin. Completely ridiculous. Also, they charged us the same price, absolutely unbelievable.

A fairly basic hotel with nothing super fancy, and nothing seriously wrong, either. Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, and all the necessities, but not a lot of extras. For a two-night stay, there was no housekeeping service after the first night - I don't know if you could ask. When we arrived, the room had been made ready in perfect order. They no longer serve breakfast, but do have muffins, coffee and tea in the mornings, and cookies for an afternoon snack. Essentially, it is a good place to sleep during your visit. There were no noise issues at all. There could have been better lighting in the room. In terms of attributes, I'd say the best thing is the staff, all of whom were super friendly and accommodating in every possible way.

Stayed at the Julian Lodge for four nights in October. I wanted to visit Julian and have access to the Desert and San Diego. From my very first contact with the front desk to check in I was impressed with how helpful the staff was. Carolina was very helpful during check in and even gave me some places to check out the beautiful sunrise and sunsets. I don’t know the names of the other staff members that I came in contact with but everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was just enough to meet my needs and very pleasant. I hope to get back to Julian someday and the Julian Lodge will be the my getaway place to stay! Thank you for everything and hope to visit again!!

I have stayed here many times and even rented the whole hotel for my son’s wedding but this didn’t get me anywhere with the new owners. I reserved three rooms but had to cancel two of them five days prior because of the flooding that had effected the timing of making it to Julian. They said that because we didn’t give them seven days notice they would charge one night each room. $210 apiece. Their cancellation policy states there will be a fee but not a full night! After many calls they wouldn’t budge. My family and friends will never stay here again! Also we couldn’t even get into our room until 7:30pm because they didn’t clean it on time because of staffing issues! Beware of this place!

Staff here is extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are pretty basic. Fridge but no microwave. Larger bathroom in my room with high ceiling which was great. Walking distance to mostly everything on the main strip of town. Great place to stay after a day of hiking in the area (I was coming from Anza Borrego) if you can get a decent price.
