The Chocolate Lodge

Beautiful place and a true nature experience in my book. I saw bad review but I had an opposite totally great and interesting overnight stay here. I simply showed up at dusk following goggle maps directions. Yeah it’s out in the bush in farming country but that’s the beauty of it. The two family members happened to be outside at the time so they opened the gate and ushered me in. The unit it a converted shipping container totally made over into a living unit. Nicely done I thought. Room with a queen bed, and a fridge! Bathroom is just fine, has hot water and clean towels. It’s the niece of the owner who helps run the place, and she brought over a fresh Cacau plant, opened it up, and informed how to eat it. Nice touch I slept with the screen door open. No A/C but you don’t really need it cools down nicely at night. At 6:30 AM the next morning she took me on a walking tour of the farm and the area all the way down to the nearby river and back. They were training show horses there. I saw a sloth, lots of Mccaw birds, some colorful frogs I didn’t even see in the national parks. A great 1.5 hour nature experience I thought. Great add-on. I highly recommend this little interesting place
