I've been a Choice Privileges member for over 10 years now, and usually find that a Choice Hotel gives you a pretty good value for what you pay. We've been to several places this summer, and once in a while you find something that doesn't always work the way you expect it to when you arrive at your hotel. This place topped them all..... First, let me say the room was clean, the bed was fairly comfortable, and the noise level was acceptable for a multi-story building. However, we couldn't believe how many things were broken or out-of-order. When we checked in, we usually need a luggage cart. This place only has one, and it's way past it's prime. One of the upright posts was broken completely off the platform. You couldn't push the cart with both hands, because the post wasn't connected to anything. You had to wrestle the cart into the elevator by just pushing the left side only. Needless to say this was an adventure trying to steer it down the hallway! When we got to the room it was quite warm. We figured the A/C had been turned up because they hadn't needed that room for a couple of days. So we turned down the thermostat and when out to dinner. When we got back it was definitely cooler, so we unpacked and settled in for the night. However, it wasn't long before we noticed that the A/C unit had stopped blowing cold air. Adjusting the thermostat didn't do anything. The front desk said there was no maintenance man available at that hour, and he was the only one there. For the rest of the night the air conditioning alternated between cool air and warm air. The faucet in the bathroom sink was a single-handle type. When you pulled up on the handle, not only did water come out of the spout into the bowl, but also leaked everywhere on the top of the sink. Then when you pushed it down to stop the flow, it didn't. The faucet continued to leak. You had to wiggle the handle up and down to find the exact spot that the water would stop. The ice machine on our floor had a sign "out-of-order". You had to go down to the first floor to find one that worked. In the morning, the one and only elevator was going through a maintenance check, so it was temporarily"out-of-order". The breakfast was fair, but the juice machine was labeled "out-of-order". While we were finishing breakfast, a couple came down to have breakfast as well. The guy put a couple of slices of toast into the toaster and went over to get other things, not realizing the toaster was broken. It never popped up, the toast started to burn, and it promptly set off the entire building's fire alarm system. (extremely loud!!) We joined the rest of the guests in the parking lot waiting for the fire department to show up and quiet the noise. At that point we said enough is enough, and got out of there as fast as we could.
