Alma Boutique Hotel

Although I was not staying there, it has been my 5th trip to Zanzibar and have never had such terrible experience with hotel staff. I went to Sharazad hotel and White Sand Luxury Villas many times for a drink and they have never been rude and I have never felt unwelcomed as at Alma hotel. Although the resort has been almost empty and I just sat on their chair outside at the beach at 7 am watching sunset for 15 min and nobody was there, they asked me to leave as I am not there guest. No wonder no body came to their Happy hours, to their bar...

A beautiful 2 weeks holiday, the most kind and lovely staff, I enjoyed each moment. A special thank you to Selim. I loved to sail with the hotel ngalawa and I am now fan of coconut weawing The kitchen and chef only need some improvement. See you next year !

Not worth 5 stars. We have a lot of experience with five-star hotels, and this hotel absolutely does not meet those standards! We recently stayed here for 8 days. Upon arrival, the hotel looks nice and attractive. The rooms are spacious, it has a nice pool, and the staff is friendly. The manager was present during the week we were there, and he was very kind. The food is okay, but definitely not special. The breakfast buffet is very basic and not extensive. The bread baskets they serve at every meal are filled with old bread from previous days (tough and hard). The hotel has few facilities and doesn’t organize anything. There’s little atmosphere, no music, nothing. There is one restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The beach nearby is nice for a short time, with the sea within walking distance, but later in the day, it’s covered in seaweed, and swimming becomes difficult. Power outages are frequent. The gym equipment doesn’t work! The cross trainer only has an on/off button, but nothing else happens, and the same goes for the bike. When you go to eat, the staff hovers around you, which doesn’t feel comfortable and makes you not want to linger at the table. You feel constantly watched. When you’re lying on the beach, the staff barely comes by to offer drinks or anything else. The location is also mediocre, with few nice bars or restaurants around the hotel, except for "Scooby Doo." Paje is a 10-minute drive away. Maybe this hotel would be suitable for older people who want to relax for a few days, but for young people like us (26 and 28), definitely not! A waste of money!! The reason we choose 5-star hotels is because they offer extra luxuries, better service, and more facilities. So, honestly, we feel a bit deceived.

Amazing experience here at the Alma boutique Hotel. Rooms were bigs and confortable, the service was perfect, people was so kind and i enjoyed every activities organised by the hotel. The perfect place to enjoy couple ´s hollidays, thanks 🫶

What a hotel! Absolutely beautiful decor and facilities. Staff were all so friendly, helpful and professional, never wanted for anything whilst there, service was impeccable. Rooms were really good size and fantastically stocked with shower robes, slippers, shower accessories, toothbrushes, razors, shaving foam, towels, minibar and coffee. The food was all absolutely amazing too, the portion size are quite big so make sure you’re hungry. Overall, this hotel is just great, I would definitely recommend it for a stay. Only words of caution I would give you, take some water shoes with you as the sea outside the hotel is full of urchins. I would also recommend doing the snorkelling and starfish tour, and go to Salaam Cave to see the turtles. The general manager was also there with his wife both of whom were fantastic hosts and always came to say hello in the evenings and ensure everything is okay.

+ Large rooms, incl. beds (2m width) + clean hotel and rooms + perfect location for several activities, i.e., diving, kite surfing (do not use the one right next to the hotel) + great kitchen & food!!! - Italien manager, hence there is real, self-made pasta & co :) + various choices for breakfast incl. few á la carte orders + great coffee (they have an Italian coffee machine) + small hotel, only few rooms, very quiet + also restaurant / bar is nice to chill during the day + one of the fewer hotels with a tiny gym +/- few blackouts mainly in the evenings
