I mistakenly booked a smoking room and, upon check-in, asked to switch to a non-smoking room. The staff member informed me that my reservation was for a smoking room and that the hotel was fully booked. After checking the app for availability, I found a higher-grade non-smoking room and offered to pay the difference. She kindly helped me arrange the room change.
However, she asked if I was okay with a room close to the lift, which I agreed to. Unfortunately, this meant my room shared a wall with the lift shaft. I struggled to sleep due to the noise from guests checking out early in the morning. It felt like a tram was passing through a tunnel. This experience was quite disappointing, and I believe the hotel should reconsider offering such rooms to guests.
