This is a beautifully designed hotel in a stunning setting at the edge of cliffs overlooking the sea. The grounds are filled with plants and herbs, there is an outdoor fitness area, and private sunbathing areas. The saltwater pool is large and uncrowded. The bathing platforms on the rocks provide access to a sublime snorkelling area and there are two long beaches within walking distance which are great for serious swimming (but beware the jellyfish!) The room was comfortable with a relaxing terrace, good air con and shower. There is a kettle and a mini fridge. Although on the edge of the hotel near the road, it was still very quiet. As vegetarians (no meat, no fish), we are quite demanding. Generally, there was a good selection of veggie food of a high standard in the buffet, including salads and hot meals. There were one or two disappointing moments, for example, on our late arrival I had asked for a vegetarian plate (specifically no meat, no. fish) to be saved for us but we were served fish. On a couple of occasions, the vegetarian food labels included bacon and fish. However, the restaurant managers were quick to react on all occasions, and even offered to serve us from the al carte menu. The staff, generally, were very pleasant. We would especially like to congratulate the entertainments manager who ensured a high quality of live music almost every night – the best we have heard in a hotel. Concerts were held in the beautiful outdoor bar overlooking the pool. We were even taught salsa one night, and watched a fireworks display in the town on another. The entertainment was welcome because Isola Rossa, where the hotel is situated, was a bit dead in the evenings. It’s a rather charmless place with several over-priced and limited (vegetarian-wise) restaurants – a lunchtime salad, consisting of little more than lettuce and tomatoes, costs around 16 euros! We were relieved to have booked half board. It's a long way from Olbia Airport (one-and-a-half-hour drive) but the hotel arranged efficient transfers. A tip – the hotel quotes 120 euros for a round taxi trip to the nearest cultural place of interest, Castelsardo. We were able to book through e-boat (an excursion agency) for 55 euros.
