Kinloch Lodge Hotel and Restaurant

We received a night and dinner at Kinloch Lodge as a surprise wedding gift. Well, you can imagine how thrilled we were to find ourselves in this beautiful boutique hotel right on the loch on The Isle of Skye! Our friends had made many secret phone calls to organise this treat for us and were always treated kindly, helpfully and courteously. We were treated like treasured guests by every one we met at Kinloch. The decor was beautiful in the lounges and rooms, with such sumptuous fabrics and colours. The history and artifacts are fascinating. The bed was beautifully comfortable and the bathroom products smelt heavenly. We met such interesting international guests while we were there, making ourselves at home in the stunning lounge overlooking the lawns. The gardens lead down to the loch and you can explore the waters edge in peace at the amazingly tranquil location. We enjoyed every morsel of our delicious food and loved sitting sipping our drinks at the fire pit in tge garden. We will always treasure the memory of our stay. We booked up for the lunchtime menu which is a selection of small bites which you choose from the menu. Everything we ordered was exceptional and the service excellent. We even went back a week later as the menu changes daily. We would definitely recommend Kinloch as the place to eat on Skye

The location of the hotel is beautiful and the staff were all very friendly. We were in Room 5 and although the room was spacious, the decor, furniture and finishing were quite bland. It was lacking touches to make you feel that this was a luxury hotel. The bathroom was also spacious but basic, and unfortunately the waste bin was full of the previous guests used toiletries. As an apology for the bathroom mishap, our first drinks at dinner were free which we appreciated. After we reviewed our 4 course dinner options, the server who came to our table to take our order seemed not to be fully trained, and could not answer questions on the menu. The food itself turned out to be good but again, not amazing. Kinloch Lodge is a good hotel but definitely not luxury, especially when considering the cost. We paid £1,500 for one night for 2 couples incl dinner and breakfast. The website seemed to promise so much more and we left rather disappointed.

After being let down at the final hour by another fine dining establishment on Skye, The Kinloch Lodge pulled out all the stops to make my wife's 50th birthday memorable. We managed to arrive 10 minutes before close of lunch and were greeted with extremely friendly staff who went the extra mile to soon make us forget our earlier problems. From the champagne on arrival to the amazing small plates menu I couldn't fault it. The personal touch from the owner of a special gift when we were leaving certainly made our day. If I could leave 6 stars I would. Will definitely return at sometime in the future

The Lodge is a 17th Century farmhouse/hunting lodge, set in a beautiful location overlooking Loch na Dal. We had a wonderfully warm welcome at the reception and taken to our room. The Lodge is beautifully appointed with a bar/sitting room and a drawing room both with roaring fires. There a three gorgeous dining rooms. Our bedroom was a tad dated in terms of the bathroom and under bedding. But didn’t detract from the warm homely feel. We wouldn’t dine here again but the breakfast was nice and the service is excellent. Before and after dinner we enjoyed a wee dram in the drawing room and then followed up after dinner in the bar with two other couples and chatted away for a few hours . The Lodge is a wonderful experience in Scottish hospitality and has the homely/country house feel that we often yearn for.

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Kinloch Lodge . The views are stunning , the rooms recently refreshed ( at least where we stayed in the building by the water ) and the food was delicious. Service was warm and friendly especially the wonderful Lizzie . They do their best to assist with any special requests or dietary needs you might have to make your stay on Skye special. Housekeeping - who clean in teams of four- are super efficient. Coming back to the restaurant , the food is genuinely great using local produce to create inventive ( but not fussy ) dishes and the wine selection is excellent with a large number of wines available by the glass as well as bottle . There is no need to drive up to the north of the island for Michelin star food when you get Michelin quality here .

Not only is the location breathtaking, the food is sublime . A Michelin star cannot and should not be far away . The fusion of Scottish foraged local produce and exquisite seafood is a triumph to the chef’s creativity and skill. The serving staff were polite, warm, engaging and knowledgeable and made our evening highly memorable . If you are on or planning to come to Skye, you will be mad not to eat at Kinloch Lodge. On second throughs, why not simply come and stay here too for a trip you will be glad you’ be taken. Isabella and Danny lead the team with elegance and grace. Thank you Kinloch Lodge and team.

Kinloch was Skye's first quality hotel and I've visited it many times. Traditional old school charm, with great personal service, excellent food and comfortable rooms with great beds. The location is idyllic on the Sleat peninsula looking over to Knoydart. Isabella Macdonald now overseas the Macdonald family seat, she is a lovely approachable lady who really recognises what it takes to make your experience unforgettable.

Absolutely wonderful place on the Isle of Skye. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. The staff is simply superb -- warm, friendly and efficient in a seemingly effortless way -- and Isabella is a lovely host. (Among other things, she managed to find a mechanic to fix our flat tire fixed on a sleepy Sunday morning) We had heard that the restaurant was very good but it surpassed our expectations in both quality and variety. We have more of Skye to explore and cant wait to return.
